I disagree - plenty of Lana's fans are teens and GP. Even many hardcore stans will look elsewhere if she chooses to be mia for an extended period. Iirc Lorde and Fiona never used sm anywhere close to the extent that Lana has, so it's a big change for them. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing because I don't think she wants stans

This is oversimplying. She has a contract with a record company to make music and to receive money for doing so. If she doesn't want to make music for money then she can quit her label any time she wants and just make it for free, or not at all. Whilst I have very limited sympathy for record companies, imo this could've been solved if she'd at least directed everyone to another account to follow for updates. She just deserted socials, and no one has any idea where to look for updates, etc. I sympathise with her on a personal level but it honestly wasn't very professional, especially considering that it's first and foremost her professional artist account. I mean Ben and Ed basically just re-post her posts so it remains to be seen if they're gonna take the updates on. Social media plays a huge role in music promotion whether people like it or not

I agree that Arcadia is better than the previous three but yes - to me, that song feels like she is trying way too hard to capture that quality that seemed to be effortlessly present in her past music. I can't even pinpoint what that quality is, but your description of it sounding like someone trying to sound like Lana is spot on.

Yes exactly. I wouldn't go so far as to say she's lacking creativity, but at the same time, her saying it's an album based on herself and her story is telltale in some ways. I mean isn't that what her music has always been, but in a much more abstract way? The 3 singles + Arcadia are much more direct and there's nothing wrong with it, but it occurred to me (and I'm sure, to her) - where to from here?

Coldplay hasn't made good music since 2005 so they won't be a problem They are like U2. Great for the first few albums and then the lead singer became a complete tool and it was all downhill from there Chris Martin's only redeeming quality post 2005 is that he talked Lily Allen down off the edge of a cliff once in Malibu But I doubt Lana gives a fuck about number one anyway because here we are one month out and she has cruelly abandoned us like a cicada abandons its skin in the summertime

I feel like being even more unpopular than usual, so: I have been contemplating Costco why she left socials and I actually think it has less to do with the media/hate than it does with burnout in relation to her art. In actuality, it's likely that the former exacerbated the latter. I know she's doing two albums but one is covers and the other is basically half old concepts. Idk if it's writer's block exactly. I think she might be finding herself not enjoying the process anymore, which in turn would lead to a downturn in creativity. I hope no one interprets this as a personal insult towards her because it's not. Many brilliant people can suffer burnout. And so by removing herself from socials and by extension, her fans and all of the pressures associated with releases and keeping up appearances, she's probably hoping to simplify and find her way again. And maybe when she said she's leaving to seek transparency she means getting in touch with her own feelings and being honest with herself instead of trying to be and do what other people want, which she has seemed more prone to do the past couple of years.

Agreed, and this opinion has nothing to do with them as people - they are probably very nice - but I'm not gonna sit here and say their work is outstanding just because they are her siblings. I think some of Chunk's work is good, idk enough about Charlie's to say - but they are limiting themselves by predominantly working for their sister, and they are definitely limiting Lana because she cannot say no to them.

Honestly this deactivation has been so entertaining just for the theories Idk if the blind is true but I think she will either come back around the album release, or else not for a very long time. Like if an album release can't bring her out of hibernation then nothing will

I think the reason for a name change would be that she wants to start fresh or that she feels like she's outgrown it or whatever All of her friends call her Lana (and I think Chunk does, too?) When she released NFR, Courtney commented that she was finally appealing to the older fans like she wanted, or something to that effect And there's no question that she's taking a different approach musically And as strange as it sounds I think a lot of stans will lose interest if her presence is non existent because I think many people are in love with the idea of 2012 - 2015 era Lana and have never let go of it and her abandoning socials is the final severing of that, in a way Idk I'm just rambling

Idk if that's the reason Imo it probably hits closer to home somehow but only she knows All her irl friends were on that account; I wouldn't be surprised if she had a falling out with one or more of them (although I hope that isn't the case) I didn't see any of them like or comment on her last posts which seemed a little unusual but might not mean anything
