This sounds bad but I'm less excited for this now that there won't be anything to accompany the release I understand letting the music speak for itself but I'm assuming there probably won't be any photo shoots or magazine interviews and obviously no commentary from her on socials about the songs, and I will miss all of those In the long term I think her music might get better if she gets to a better place on a personal level, though, so that's something to look forward to

Yeah maybe my post came off wrong, I wasn't blaming her (although as @Lemonade Tea said she does have favourites) but many fans have no boundaries. Like okay, if you have the money and means to follow her around the US or even the world that's your business, but I don't think she should reward that with attention. It's not beneficial for her or for them, because she's just encouraging this brand of toxic frenzied stan behaviour that happens both on and offline. I mean there have been people (or at least, I know of one person) who even attended a Churchome service just to be close to her, other people have been to her house, etc. So maybe this is partially an attempt to keep people at arm's length (out of sight out of mind concept), and I can't blame her for that, especially now given that there's a baby in the family.

Probably a wildly unpopular opinion, and nothing against him personally but picking out a few people and giving them special treatment is just really cringe to me. There were countless fans in the comments who seemed devastated; I bet the vast majority didn't get shit but that ^ guy does cos he has the money and means to go to her shows, probably lives in LA etc That is one of the reasons that idm she's ditched socials. The other reasons are what @Ultra Violet said

Yesterday I was like wtf but today I find all of it rather amusing Obviously I hope there is nothing amiss and that she feels better for ditching socials, but she went about it in such a dramatic Cancer way I, an Aries, find it impossible to understand why you wouldn't just yell at people and then log off

It's funny you mention that because I'm just now remembering the Bonnaroo cancellation, not to mention the tour cancellation last year just before rona hit. It might not be related but I wonder if she has had this in mind for awhile? Just going off the radar and making music without any fanfare I just question why she wouldn't just ghost her account - I think there would've been far fewer fan meltdowns, no bitchy articles and she also would've left the door open to just return whenever, without pressure. Although it wasn't her intention, I feel like the video has caused unnecessary drama and attention (which seems to be what she's wanting to avoid?)

Yeah you're right maybe since she's been posting all this shit she's noticed a difference in herself or something I'm overanalysing af

It's just straight up weird like she's been posting up a storm with all this rando stuph and now she's suddenly like "see ya" It'd be more understandable if she hadn't been posting much and was like, "I've realised that socials just aren't for me, bye" but she's been doing the opposite? I feel like it's some sort of personal crisis. I hope she's okay

I don't know that it's a positive development - for her or for us - to leave announcements in the hands of insiders. I mean it happens regardless but I feel like people will be even more relentless to obtain info and songs now I don't know of any other artist who doesn't have some sort of social media presence for announcements (except Lorde but she uses emails) This makes me think this will either be short-lived, or that she hasn't fully thought it through It's just not gonna work to not announce anything in advance - it may be how she wants it but I really doubt that Interscope and any book publishers would be on board with that, and them announcing it for her would seem very impersonal, contrived, and at odds with her art, frankly Will be interesting

I honestly feel like something happened; the vibe in that video isn't a good one as others have noted and as an Aries I completely understand the kind of, "that's IT fuck EVERYTHING" reactionary approach all too well and I think that's what this is and she will be back before long
-
Ben's comments are gonna be even more lit from now on
-
I'd like it if she did a mailing list and sent emails like Lorde. Lorde doesn't really use socials at all except for the onion rings
-
I'm all for her taking care of herself, don't get me wrong but I also don't understand why she couldn't just step back and only post announcements 'n' shit? We obviously love the personal content but if she wants to make her socials less personal and more professional, that would be understandable. Getting rid of them altogether has implications professionally. Like who will announce her stuff? In a way I feel like this will make people more eager to hack, etc, as well because there will be no information coming from her directly. Much to think about
-
I mean on a positive note at least there won't be any more false release dates
-
Yeah I agree. But maybe she doesn't feel appreciated or something so at least we can let her know that she is before she goes. Nobody should be harassing her or her friends and family, though.
-
Let's all write verbose thoughtful messages in her comments about how much we appreciate having her on socials and she might reconsider
-
Of course she looks really cute in her passport and visa pics whilst everyone else looks like they're on crack in theirs Wdym? You need one to get into Russia and she went there on tour did she not
-
It just has the vibe of her and Charlie fucking around and that's not wrong per se, but it doesn't suit the song at all. She utilises her friends and family in her professional life too much and undermines her work imo Time and place

I really don't like Lana vs. Lorde comparisons because they are two completely different artists and humans, however, I feel that it illustrates my point, so: Solar Power is about Lorde's everyday life. There's a song about her dog that passed. Lyrics about imposter syndrome. Etc. But the thing is, none of the songs sound like diary entries. I really feel like Lana's songs of late sound like diary entries, and maybe that's what she's going for - and maybe that's even what most people here like - but there's more to a good song than just recounting your feelings. I feel like, if you're going to do that, you've got to be discerning and know what to leave out. This is why you have a diary in the first place - because nobody wants to read that shit, really. She's doing the lyrical equivalent of dumping every single photo from your phone onto your IG, including the blurry selfie and the accidental picture of a tablecloth. I think she thinks it's endearing, and it was to a point, but now my interest is waning. I think people eat it up more than they should just because they are stans and she was so reticent in the past, and now she isn't. "My body is a map of LA" - we get it. She likes living in LA. We've heard about LA in how many songs and poems? I get that she lives there. But does Lorde write about New Zealand in most songs? No. Do Florence or Marina write about the UK in most songs? No. Do other American artists write about America in most songs? No. At this point I really wish she'd come up with something else. American themes are okay when they are purposeful and tie in with the meaning of the song but when that meaning is just "I live in LA and my friends come over and swim in my pool, teehee," and variations of that over and over, it's boring. Idk maybe I am unstanning without consciously meaning to. I am looking forward to the UV outtakes, though.

No I agree wholeheartedly Also, lots of lyrics are worded very awkwardly. "In the month of mid July" was the beginning and now we've arrived at "run your hands over me like a Land Rover" I know what she's trying to say but it's expressed so awkwardly that I think it makes it sound like a Land Rover has hands that run over people. Bad attempt at expressing that metaphor imo I haven't found any of her lyrics to be particularly brilliant lately. Insightful maybe, but not cleverly crafted. Wildfire is probably the best of the four lyrically Her lyrics used to be very nuanced and filled with subtle messages that you had to really contemplate and Arcadia's lyrics are so simplistic and transparent that they almost sound like they belong in a song by The Wiggles explaining the circulatory system to 4 year olds

Quite obviously the roses shall never bloom for anyone at all
