I think she probably chose August 20 because it's a happy medium for both hemispheres. Keeping in mind she's from NZ So it's near the end of the northern summer but coming into the southern summer (or the start of the warmer weather anyway)

Agreed. This album sounds like she stumbled into Jack's studio after suffering sunstroke and rambled into a microphone about forks, crystals and her hypothetical daughter for 30 odd minutes. Big yikes. Turns out that going to Antarctica to find inspiration for a summer album is, in fact, a terrible idea.

I don't even dislike them or anything I think maybe part of it was just waiting so long for something so you come up with all of these expectations in your mind and then when it's something different, it's a little jarring Tbh I felt the same way about NFR But I haven't even heard the album yet.

After hearing Solar Power, Stoned, and Mood Ring (I find leaks bring me bad energy so I haven't yet heard The Path), my feeling is that all three are okay, but not outstanding. Like everyone else, I've been very keen for something new from her after all this time. But I can't help but wonder if maybe she herself absorbed the anticipation and early career hype a little too much, to the point where the musical output isn't really groundbreaking by her standards. I'm heavily medicated rn so forgiveness if this makes no sense I just hope the album offers something a little more interesting and out-of-the-box, I suppose.
