It's such a hussle - I have to really do a lot of work on my thesis until then, so on the one hand I'm terrified of time passing yet at the same time I can't f*cking wait! Really? I feel like it has this huge "end-of-summer" vibe to it. Like some sort of contrast between the darkness of the songs and some last moments of heat. Especially Text Book, the Interlude and Thunder give off that vibe

Even though all the cover and vinyl variants look super fancy, I decided to order the standard one I feel like the standard cover is still the best-fitting one on the long run and the classic black vinyl fits the iconic-ness of the music.

God yeah - I always thought western-pop-girl-fandoms would be crazy, but the Kpop community is something else. I remember some weird incidents on german political twitter, when commedians manipulated Kpop-fans to rally against a right-wing party. It was fun to watch, but completely ridiculous how easy it was to make those people completely lash out collectively in THE. MOST. TOXIC way (not even knowing why they did it)

I feel like this "she will come back with her real name" is one of this fandoms favourite fantasies for whatever reason but I don't think it would make sense, nor that it will ever happen a) If she wants more privacy, it would be inconsequential to use her real name b) She's been so long with this persona/ nickname that it has more or less merged with her. c) Everytime she released something it would be introduced with "Elizabeth Grant, formerly known as Lana Del Rey", so she would not "get rid" of the alias anyway

It's so funny to see how some of you are willing to proclaim lackluster projects like CoCC and LFL as peaks of her career while dragging some of her most inspired work like NFR or HM I mean, personal taste is different but beyond that it's still pretty obvious CoCC and LFL have their problems while other albums are crafted in a much more coherent and solid way.
-
Unlike LFL Blue Banisters seems to be pretty coherent so far. Text Book, Arcadia and Wildflower work really well next to songs like Thunder, Living Legend and Dealer. And the unreleased songs themself also have a pretty distinctive sound. It's not hard to imagine NotG, CB, LL and Thunder on one album. And "fans crying for old Lana" are usually the ones who insist on her putting out another BtD - which I can't really hear in any of those songs. Plus I rather have 5 more unreleased older tracks on an album than another bleak and uninspired mess like CoCc that completely loses the little bit of energy it halfway through the already-short tracklist If that is what "new Lana" is supposed to stand for, then I'm happy to not have it.

I really like SP but a lot about it is so pretentious it hurts. I mean, all that "I don't WANNA be famous"-whining has become somesort of trope within the pop industry right now and it's cringy when someone who's obviously not really feeling like it proclaims it while not living up to it. It's her fucking comeback album - if fame treats her so badly, why does she chose to go back into the spotlight? Why is she all over the magazines and talk shows? It's the same with this huge deal about her "music box" being released dramatically without a CD. If you want to protect the environment, don't sell any physical copies. The wa she's selling it it's really JUST garbage cause at least CDs have some sort of use. Noone is going to look more often than onceat that empty CD-digipack /that is sold wrapped in plastic btw) before it will eventually go to the trash. I know Lorde always had this hipocritical "I'm not like the other guuurls" vibe but it's really so obvious this era ...

I doubt that she will be gone from social media forever.
-
I'm usualy not someone who gets dramatic bout things like this but this "deactivating"-video kind uf fucked me up. She seemed so emotional with that shaking voice and wet eyes and up until today she was so active and open and nothing indicated she'd do something like this.

CoCC sold super well but I kinda suspect that was because NFR was such an acclaimed album. I doubt that CoCC created a lot of buzz for it's follow-up and although Lana seems to be MUCH more inspired again compared to NFR/CoCC, yet she still just threw 3 tracks out there without any promotion and Arcadia is a wonderful track but not really a strong single for the mainstream. So yeah, it's not really very suprising there is no huge buzz about this outside the fandom. I could see BB as a critics-darling though

Media Markt Germany has the alternative cover with her side profile https://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_lana-del-rey-blue-banisters-exklusive-version-mit-alternativem-cover-pop-international-cd-2762874.html But not as a vinyl. They seemingly don't have the alternative cover of her smiling or the JD one either. As annoying as that is, it's probably a sign that those covers will stay pretty exclusive and limited

I am sooo happy that Text Book is the album opener - even though I never expected it. It has such strong lyrics but it's not as messy as the title track. I love the verses that sound like they are from some obscure late-60s action movie soundtrack and her vocal delivery is extremely impressing. I was kind of afraid that the song would kinda get overshadowed but the fact it has such a prominent placement on the tracklist is exciting af.
