Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
That would work if she only changed the title, but if she scrapped most of the songs they would have to destroy all of the vinyls Chromatics-style ... I doubt that it's the packaging that would be the dealbreaker here. -

I hope this is an UV situation and that working with Mike brought her some kind of inspiration that the album lacked before. Maybe she scrapped the Jack-songs. It could easily be another LFL/CoCC situation though, where she's indecisive, overthinks stuff and makes the album worse with some last-minute changes. -

I think CoCC is the real problem here. Those three songs perfectly make sense as an afterthought to NFR and VBBOTG, but CoCC just took out the connection/momentum -
So she's doing lame "summer's so coooooool, let's go have fun at the beach" tracks now? Disappointing
-
And you can't seem to get past your complaining about people having fun with a cute little detail in the video
-
And who is "Predator" supposed to be then? Talking about being dumb
-
Okay so ... go on and do that
-
What is wrong with talking about it though? It's nice to have some discussion which is not "yass this is great" or "eeew this is shit"
-
Well whatever. Lorde's cover-game was never very strong and her music still pulled through. It's just so weird that her visuals in music videos and performances are always so on point, yet the cover art often fails to represent that.
-
So ... I am responsible for Lona's loss of a sense for visuals because I still like her music? GTFO
-
That pic is not it. It's not half as controversial as she may think it is and the whole vibe of it is not artistic at all. It looks more like a random beach-shot a tourist kid took while playing with the panorama feature of their phone.
-
I'm realy not that much into her music, it's always nice for a hot second but I lose interest in it very quickly. However, I still have some sort of soft spot for Collxtion II - Casanova is one of my favourite catchy pop-tunes ever.
-
It's incredible what a different hairstyle, different eyebrows and makeup can do ...She looks a bit like St. Vincent in her recent era
-
The Venus Fly Trap still on the YT countdown is gorgeous. I love how ... different she looks there

I just listened to the album for the second time after my initial listen yesterday and I think you nailed it. The record is fun and I like it a lot but it just feels so ... divided. ILYBILMM can't really bring back the momentum after PB stopped it. It's even more apparent cause the album is so extremely short and the two ballads at the end are the longest songs on it. Froot and TJF had a much better mix of energetic tracks and ballads. ADIAML did not need Pink Convertible, it needed a few more upbeat/danceable/energetic songs for its second half
-
Sooo I was weak and gave in. Highly Emotional People was a highlight for me during the first listen. It's really one of her big, touching ballads. VFT is not as exciting as I figured it would be. I like the TFJ-ish vibes, but i feel like that song really NEEDED to be a bit longer. Not in a "it's so good I want it to be longer" kind of way, but more because I feel those 2:30mins are a bit overloaded and rushed. The groovy part that she posted in her snippet is the best part. Flowers on the other hand feels a tad too long. I like it but it gets a bit repetitive after a while. New America on the other hand is much better than I expected ... The repeating of the word "America" during the chorus is a bit weird but all in all the lyrics actually work out quite well. Both Goodbye and I Love You But I Love Me More are really solid songs with grower potential. ILYBILMM has a slight CPMD-vibe and Goodbye could have been from a TJF sequel. The album as a whole is really nice, yet not what I would have imagined based on the singles - I expected more stuff in the vein of the title track. It feels really short aswell. But I'm satisfied, it's definitly a nice piece of music.

Venus Fly Trap and I Love You But I Love Me More sound really intriguing, based both on the respective titles and Eclipse's review
-
I actually really like this new single. It has this soft-pop energy from "My future"/ "everything i wanted" (even though it's not as clever) and still has some sort of groove.
-
I prefer that vocal take a lot, especially during the verses. The final version is w tad too "cheeky"
-
Yeah, you are totally right. What I meant was "if there is another single coming THS week, it will be on friday" - probably worded it badly
-
I think IF there is another single coming, it will be released on friday. The last "buzz single" that's put out shortly before the record is dropped usually comes out within a very short timespan prior to the release
-
Yeah, I totally get it but it kind of loses it's charm whe the other songs are all over the place ASWELL.
-
If we get so many political songs on this album, I hope the lyrics will actually be well crafted. I have no problems with her doing this kind of songs, but if she does multiple ones, she should decide which topic is supposed to be sung about in which one. So far the only political song she put out which actually addresses ONE specific topic is Men's World. Savages, To Be Human, Purge The Posion - they all go under the label of ~political and just throw together multiple "woke" statements about racism, climate change, misogyny etc. New Americana seems to go down the same route. If she's just going to be all over the place, I doubt that the lyrics will have much of an impact

Fan Faves means nothing from L+F, yeah?

The last line is probably just the shadow of the bent paper, plus ASSUMING this is a tracklist, I don't think the last line would be another song
