  1. no, there's actual pictures of the cassette and stuff. the sleeve that comes in the tape has all the credits too! i won't post the pictures here cause i don't wanna get snatched.

there's picture proof of the tape and it has all the credits on the sleeve that it comes in

So there's no way this is gonna stop right now. If someone has the casette by a mistake of delivery, imagine how many people could have gotten it already. This is horrible. Poor, poor Lana...

  2. Well we have an idea about ALL songs at this point...it does not seem like it will be sadder than UV was with songs like The Other Woman, Pretty When I Cry, Old Money, Cruel World and even the bitterness of Fucked My Way Up To The Top and Money Power Glory.

The difference I found when it comes to UV narratives is that it seemed to be quite theatrical too (it was her second album, so she was still on the top of the creating-her-persona process). The production was huge -not in a bad way or meaning overproduced, I mean that it created very crafted atmospheres, it had a very wide sound-, so the thing exploded and Lana was there playing so many different roles. But in this case, I think it's just Lana trying to get her pieces together. There's no trail of the opulency of her previous sound. t's just her accompanied by very minimalistic and delicate music. She sounds so, so vulnerable.

  3. I'm listening again all the songs we already have -including the last two leaked yesterday-. I'm getting a feeling that this may be her saddest record ever. FIILY is incredibly sad, and quite interesting because the chorus lyrics are upbeat and quite cheesy (the "fucking i love you part), so the music is. I think the weird synths on repeat along the song give it a quite dystopic and evasive feeling. It gives me a vibe such as the one DLMBM at the end of Honeymoon left me with: a huge aching hollowness inside. Quite similar to anxiety, actually.

The others are nearly on the same level: Venice Bitch is quite similar to FIILY, but the dystopic feeling is taken many levels further, so the lenght of the song. Incredibly beautiful, but comes to be so sad in the context of what we've heard. No need to reference HIADT when talking about the feelings it may rise. Mariners may be the only optimistic one we've heard so far. TG is her pretending to quit from music. Bartender sounds sad as fuck. How to Dissapear made me cry since the first snippet was shared on her IG feed. Cinnamon Girl also has a feeling to it as the world was collapsing. Anyone else is getting this views on what we've seen from the album?

  4. It's totally okay! and I apologize if my post came across as rude or snarky in any way. I just think we all approach music in different ways and find a variety of things that resonate with us; whether that be lyricism, production, etc. I'm just glad that Lana has made records that speaks to different people.

Absolutely agree with you on the diversity of places where each one comes when receiving a concrete musical input, and Lana has a wide variety of things that make her music appealing to different people. And don't worry either, all okay!

  5. When I say that I think the new songs have topped UV and HM, I'm speaking subjectively and based on my perspective. It's nothing authoritative. These songs so far have a different atomosphere that really resonates with me more than the content on Ultraviolence and Honeymoon. You think that her songwriting isn't at her best, I think some of these songs are her most well written in years. I don't need to go back and listen to them again, because I've heard them enough times to form my own opinion about new music.

Hey! I Wrote the post trying not to sound pedantic and clearly failed at all at that. When I talk about relistening the albums was just kind of thinking aloud, as it was the process I'm doing to try to judge on a more "objective" way - there's not objective ways and I know, just my attempt- the material we are getting last weeks, even if I've listened to them thousands of times also. Either we can or not share a common view on her music, sorry if I sounded imperative, that wasn't actually my intention.

  6. Hey. To the ones saying NFR has already "topped UV and HM". I think the songs released aren't bad and bland as many expected, but they sound anyway quite experimental and embrionary in artistic terms. The production has nice elements to it, but isn't actually consistent. Her voice and her writing clearly aren't at her best. Go and relisten UV and HM, as I'm doing. It helps to not make a precipitate judgement on NFR based mostly on the drought that we have had gone through to get some new songs.

  7. It’s got to that and it’s got to be his skin tone/race.

I don't find racist connotations in The Greatest. But, no place to doubt, talking about him in the song explicitly after the feud they had on Instagram (or her comment, better said, there was truly no feud), and being the lyrics on Hope the ones she chose ("shaking my ass was the only thing that's got this black narcissist of my back"), the whole topic is quite conflictive right now, and it's perfectly legit for people to be confused about it. As none of us are, I'm not inside Lana's head to know what she wanted or not to say, and I haven't seen clearly racist issues on her work till now, but she should have know that the critics on this topic would come (and I'm actually glad that people are fighting any potentially racist expression on art, even if that comes to Lana too).

  8. I must say I was a bit dissapointed after reading all of the praise in this thread. That being said it might be a grower.

I'm not dissapointed, but can understand why you do. I'm sure it will have more sense on the context of the album. Just right before Bartender. It will kill us, the album as a whole. The Greatest may be a momentum, but it's quite simple in structural terms. It's very beautiful, and the lyrics are heartbreaking, as well as her vocal delivery (it fucking breaks me when she sings "I miss the music"). Miss Lana keeps evolving.
