  1. Logging in for the new era felt so good This title is SO fascinating to me!! She always returns to the idea that wealth/success is poisonous (pollutes one's morality, maybe?) and I love that. Chemtrails over all the rich people
  2. I'm actually really happy with this list— there are a lot of good (and surprising!) picks like Phoebe Bridgers, Sky Ferreira, Fleet Foxes, and even a few Charli tracks! That being said, Venice Bitch should have been on rather than The Greatest, imo.
  3. Apparently NFR is paced for a #3 debut on the Billboard 200 with units of 75-85K, 50-60K are pure sales (( it's such an outstanding album, I hate to see it not place #1. Wish it had been slated for a different week.
  4. AKA-- Pawn Shop Blues. I love that this whole cathartic song happens within the 5-10 minutes it probably took her to sell her earrings. Brite Lites when I'm hammered tho BTD-- Off to the Races, it's so cinematic. I love the LA to the Moon instrumentation too, gave me a new appreciation for the song PD-- Cola, it's so bold. Wish she would sing it live again w/ a lyric change UV-- Old Money HM-- Honestly this is the hardest one because I genuinely think I love them all equally. Maybe MTWBT since it stands out as a really unique track thematically on the album? LFL-- Cherry is my fav but just to express an UNPOPULAR OPINION, Summer Bummer is def in my top 5 Mostly because it's one of the few Lana songs I can work out to NFR-- Right now I think it's Bartender but it's still changing every five minutes
  5. Can she get an AOTY nom like Melodrama tho??? I feel like she deserves it but will get snubbed. She's GOTTA get into Pop Vocal or Alternative tho
  6. WHEW the Stereogum,,,, she's getting what she deserves
  7. What a fantastic video. Totally ridiculous, but SUCH a good video to generate some hype for the release tonight. The fact that it's so weird means it will be shared more, which is a good thing imo. Could see it blowing up.
  8. They mention the (superior) AKA version in the description. Seems like they took it into account.
  9. That Billboard ranking... Yayo at #23 and not in the top ten...
  10. The single slaps harder I personally prefer the surf drums; I think it flows into Doin' Time better. The album version is good too ofc but it feels a little bare
  11. Blue Sky (a woman falling apart, her romantic counterpart is a genius in his field but sort of an asshole). It feels more unhinged than NFR, but I definitely thought of it while listening I'm biased cause I'm a huge Jessica Lange fan tho
  12. Hopping on the bandwagon Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers, Diana Ross
  13. She said for Billboard/Annie MAC (can't remember which) that FIILY was last iirc edit: srry im an idiot i get what ur saying now
  14. Facts The Billie delay theory makes total sense. They wanted Billie to succeed; and they wanted Lana to add more "pop" to the record to help it sell. So she added Doin' Time and changed FIILY (which is also the last song she wrote for the album— it easily could have been in effort to get a poppier sound). There were probably other problems too, but I wouldn't be surprised if this played into it
  15. valerie is a butterfly LB shitposting like every night
  16. Never called it her best. It has its flaws. Much less coherent as a whole than UV or HM. Visuals are weaker. But as far as the music itself goes...it stands up to those two imo.
  17. I can concede some points on production, it's definitely a personal-preference thing. I don't mind the softer sound. But from a music theory POV, NFR is much WORDIER and therefore much harder to write. Far more variation with chord progressions too. The chorus of Lovesong is longer than the verses and yet it doesn't musically resolve until the last line. It's hard to weave a long progression like that.
  18. Why are we bagging on Lana's usage of "blue??" Being (painted) blue is clearly a very personal + emotional concept for her. She deadass cried in an interview about Black Beauty/not seeing the world in its full colors. It's a complex lyric and a complex idea. So it's being explored over multiple songs. What's the issue with that?
  19. I think this is lyrically a step above LFL, probably UV/HM tier. It relies on clichés, but she's grown a lot as an artist too. Even the lyrics of FIILY are sort of out-of-the-blue for her; she rarely sings long sentences (pre-chorus) at that fast of a pace. And the lyrics of Hope are ridiculously good. That song could be DISSECTED and annotated til the end of time frankly. COMPOSITIONALLY, it's her most advanced album. Maybe not the CATCHIEST, but its easily more complex than LFL/UV. Bartender (with its literally DIVINE rhyme scheme) and Lovesong (which is structured so oddly but beautifully) are proof that she and Jack are pioneers of the industry right now. They are radically different than any other song a pop artist could produce
