You people are freaking Mr Robots here wth

  2. maybe Lana changed the lyrics because the song was about Barry and it was pretty harsh because he's not  doing great and he is not very successful and maybe it made her uncomfortable to rub it in his face singing "you did it all for fame - tell me how's life treating you now" ? / On the other hand I agree with those of you who say the new lyrics are really bad - BAR was one of my favourite unreleased too but like someone else said before I too feel like there is something missing in the NFR version, whether it is the lyrics in the chorus or the instrumentals not fitting NFR

Nah, but let's be real here: she's either singing LMLYLAW or a still-to-be-released song from COCC (the title track).

It would make sense for her to release something from the covers' album but I doubt they would book her on a TV show to sing some random cover. On top of that, there's the link for the title track (I doubt it's a pre-order). As I've said, "worst"-case scenario she's singing LMLYLAW (and releasing Chemtrails either next week or the week after), best she's singing Chemtrails. Personally, I'll be happy w/ any of them

I might be wrong but I’ve never heard of anyone perform a lead single live for the first time without the song being premiered at least a few days before or a mv. I personally doubt she’ll sing Chemtrails

If it's a song from COCC it could be Breaking Up Slowly since she performed it already live

Why do we think BUS is supposed to be on COCC? When she performed it she said "song from the record" but she could have meant the american standards record? There could be two or three unreleased tracks among the covers couldn't there?

also laughing at *BUS and COCC

  5. the way I haven’t told my siblings what I want for Christmas yet because I’m waiting for Lana to drop the pre-order and *crickets *crickets

Since it’s covers and digital only, there’s not a précise amount of songs that need to be there. It could just be a cute EP even. When she talked about it, it sounded as if a couple of songs were already recorded.
it’s the main reason why a delay is possible (it’s Lana here) but more unlikely. Plus imagine delaying an album that was made to help us with the delay of another one... That would be the meta of bad.

wait a minute - did she say it was digital only?

yeah its been released on spotify (you have to search it up its so hard to find), and the instrumentals and choir fits together much better. I still think the ending feels a bit pieces together, but its the best they could probably do rn with quarantine and not much time.

and theres more reverb on this version i think. Way better than the ig one.

    Thank you.

    Yes it is better quality.
Well, just like everyone else seems to have noticed, I too agree that the a cappella part goes on a bit too long before the orchestra kicks in and there’s little cohesion with the choir but there might be a reason for that (of course it’s just speculation on my part).

I think that the instrumentals were entirely built around the documentary and the si bf was intended to be heard with it - not on its own like, say, young and beautiful.
For example it doesn’t make any sense for the piano chords at the beginning to suddenly drop if not to fit in with the bit of the documentary we saw on IG.

Yall never heard of pitch correction / auto tune on a live mic?

Tbh I wasn’t talking about pitch correction. There’s a bit in the vid where she turns away from the mic while the track is still going and the volume doesn’t change at all so that just made me think those could be prerecorded vocals.

the straights praising her in the comments is sending me

It's the witchery for me ... Lana has managed to get football fans (generally homophobic or uncomfortable with homosexuality more or less openly / more or less unaware) to ask to have her sing this at the stadium when covid is over like they have no idea what they are getting themselves into - if this happens, there will be literally NO SEATS available for the straights to watch the game because all of us will have bought tickets and will be queuing outside the stadium for three days lol - they better rethink this

okay this literally blows lmlylaw out of the water...

You know, I said before how the song didn't really do much for me as opposed to other versions (Ella's or  Billie's for instance - which I still feel like are above Lana's) but I've been finding it more and more pleasing to listen to Lana's version lately. What I think they did with the song is they tried to give it a Lana imprint and made it hypnotic and sultry - perhaps a little too sultry for a lullaby. That's what took me off guard at first.

Also parts of the video feel a little bit over-acted and this kinda clashed with the vibe of the song for me, whereas the bits where they're road tripping in the car and it all feels slowed down and like they're on some weird shrum trip or something it's cool  and matches the vibe more (again, the vibe I think they were going for with the song).

Listening to the song without watching the mv is way different and it's making me appreciate the song more and it's now definitely grown on me and yes, like you said, totally blows lmlylaw out of the water.
