I think alone again and escape from LA are also good.

I hope you are able to stay safe! So sorry about your work not putting the wellbeing of their employees first. The future of our economy is troubling, so I try my best not to worry too much until the problem manifests itself. We all have enough stress at the moment as it is

What confuses me is that people aren't realizing we will all have enough if we shop normally. Maybe it's something to do with our reptilian brains taking over due to panic, or maybe it's not dissimilar to the fact that we have enough global resources but in the developed countries we consume more than is necessary, creating a deficit for the undeveloped countries and perpetuating the gap. I am definitely too much of an idealist and I get that socialism is a nice idea but doesn't really work historically (captilism can drive innovation, so it's not all bad either) but I think humans make things uneccesarily difficult for themselves sometimes.

One potential positive side effect of this virus is that through social isolation, satellite imaging of China shows some of the lowest rates of air pollution there in a long time. Obviously, social isolation isn’t sustainable but at least it’s possible to delay the inevitable to a certain extent. I don’t agree with the militant approach some people take to global warming, but it does make the likelihood of food shortages, natural disasters and ill health higher. Sorry for going a bit off topic, I studied geography so I kind of go on about this stuff without realising lol

Although I didn't want it to happen in such a turbulent way, sometimes we need a reminder of our own mortality. I'm not speaking about everyone, but there are some people who live very selfishly and hedonistically in this world. At least in the UK/US, politics has become Orwellian in the last 5 years. Almost all of my peers are suffering from depression or issues with substance abuse as a way to deal with pain. Our planet is burning in front of our very eyes and some people are still in denial. The fact that probably around 70% of the population has been forced to cut off from all the external powers that make our break our daily struggle to survive and move forward- school, work, social lives, freedom to travel etc... This is something that would have seemed impossible only months ago. And yet this is the new way of life. There isn't anything that we can say to make this better, but I know I'm learning a great deal about what it means to exist in this world rk. People who I thought I could trust, what I have always taken for granted- but also where my passions lie and that I should trust my intuition. I think something good HAS to come out of it. How else can we honor the emotional and physical suffering and grievance of such an event? My thoughts go out especially to those of low income or victims of domestic abuse whose every day existence feels life or death. The homeless, those who need urgent medical care, even those of us that are relatively lucky... we all deserve just love and kindness at this time. Human decency. I feel like this is the most powerful thing, even more so than money or privilege. I know I might come across as too cheesy or as though I am oversharing my thoughts, but I know my intentions are to just provide the encouragement to others that I feel would be useful to hear. If we just forget all our preconceptions and reservations and be as kind as possible... maybe that's what we should learn from this? We all start off the same (birth) and ultimately end up the same (dead) that it seems discrimination based on differences is so pointless when it accomplishes nothing but pain. Human company can be the reason to keep living, or the reason others cease to live. Regardless of religious believes, we all have free will and this free will leads to every outcome, good or bad. Another lesson could be to see how much power our decisions (or the decisions of our leaders, determined by the decisions of the voters) hold in relation to universal joy or suffering.

When you wash your hands too much, you can weaken your skin's protective barrier. Something like vaseline applied to slightly damp hands helps seal in the moisture and prevent trans epidermal water loss, which makes your hands dry and irritated. Do you have anything like that that you could try? https://www.allure.com/story/hand-washing-eczema-rash-coronavirus This article basically says the same thing

I don't necessarily dislike Pretty when you cry or Sad Girl, but they do sound awfully similar imo. Still, I guess it means UV is cohesive. Also, hot take, but I like without you+ paradise ep more than the rest of Born To Die. Still an iconic era for sure, I just don't feel like it has aged as well as Paradise, UV and Honeymoon which are Lana's holy trinity imo. Maybe this should be posted in the unpopular opinions thread, but I feel as though at the start of her career Lana's music videos and creative direction were better compared to NFR, but the authenticity and overall enjoyability(is that even a word?) of NFR is far greater. My Mum for example loves NFR but can't stand BTD. So if my Mum represents your average local, why doesn't Lana play more NFR at her concerts! Seriously, I know Summertime sadness, blue jeans, etc were hits, but I feel like NFR is even more universally pleasing to casual listeners.

Wish I used my Irish passport to get out while I still could...

It’s kind of hard to explain without getting too specific, but it’s a specialism that not many train in and there aren’t many genuine and skilled practitioners so the ones who are good and worth seeing tend to be far from where I live. Also its not usually covered by insurance, so that means all care is out of pocket and therefore attracts more charlatans with ulterior motives than a field that’s better regulated. However, I know that there will be a way to get around this with a little creativity. So much of healthcare is online now through telecommunications, so I’ll think outside the box. You get busy living, or get busy dying as they said in the shawshank redemption. I won’t give up on trying until all the options are exhausted. I hope anyone reading in a similar (or different, but still challenging) situation will keep going too <3 It’s kinda late so sorry if I’m just rambling now lol

I am trying my best to stay positive in light of this but... that guardian article is really scaring me. I can’t drive anywhere because I was in a car accident last month that damaged my car, I have a long-term health condition that requires me to travel for treatment(which will be impossible for the next year probably),I’m currently sharing a house with someone who’s in denial (aka “no worse than flu”) and is extremely controlling/unkind and I couldn’t bear the thought of living without my closest family member, who I fear will suffer if they contract this. And to see the complacency of the UK gov... We need to act now or we could be the next Italy. Truly not trying to spread negativity or be all “me me me”. I can’t even imagine how much worse so many others have it right now

Thank you for the well wishes I agree with all the above, and the other ironic thing is that Boris' current partner is pregnant! And it was his parent's money that sent him to the most prestigious school (Eton) which likely allowed him the connections to become a leading politician. Anyways, let us respect the wisdom of our elders, many of whom survived WWII or much worse. Good to know that we have solidarity in Lana fans across the globe Maybe this our "modern manifesto", "doing it for those who never got the chance" e.g. the vulnerable members of society who are often most affected in these scenarios. To paraphrase the famous quote, "First they came for the socialists- and I did not speak out because I wasn't a socialist" "Then they came for me- and there was no one left to speak for me". I try my best not to judge by race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, political affiliations... we are all flesh and blood. I am no less than the queen and no more than the man living under the bridge. The true heroes are the people standing up for each other- when I see the selflessness of healthcare workers on the front line I am reminded of what makes life worth living: the indomitable human spirit. That's something that the politicians can't take away from us.

Yeah, I'm living in the UK rk and have elderly relatives here. Needless to say, they are particularly concerned as he is essentially looking to "cull" these vulnerable groups and has released a public statement that many families should prepare to "lose their loved ones". There have also been many budget cuts to the NHS, so it will struggle to cope if things progress (which is likely). The health secretary is talking about quarantining all those over 70, and I'm really worried about one of my relatives in particular who lost his wife recently. He is very lonely, and even little things like going grocery shopping help with his mental health. He is 87 and has a breathing condition, so I don't want him to catch this and suffer. However, the mental suffering will also take a toll on him and he is such a kind, giving person that it hurts to see him confused and upset like this. However, all we can do is take things one day at a time and utilize technology such as skype. It's not the same- but better than nothing and adaptation is key. Also, to anyone that is a UK citizen or holds dual citizenship, signing petitions is a small way to let our voices be heard. I'll link some below if anyone's interested: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301397 https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/300403 Also, Caroline Polachek has posted to her insta stories presenting with coronavirus like symptoms. Hope she gets better soon, and hope all those who attended her concerts in London aren't badly affected.
