  1. Maybe they have a bond in person that exists independent of, or transcending these sorts of beliefs.

I understand a lot of people, and probably most people here think that being friends with someone with different political beliefs is absurd, but the fact is that there just are a lot of people in the world who don't think it matters at all

  2. I know it in theory but I went to montreal and literally just froze up whenever someone spoke to me in french

I read a lot of french poetry (paul verlaine, arthur rimbaud, charles baudelaire etc) so I know a lot of random  advanced words that will never help me in a practical setting. Aveugle.. enfer... plaisir...

... Ô saisons ô châteaux, Quelle âme est sans défauts ?

i’m really surprised that a lana forum actually hates taylor this much… they both focus so much on their songwriting, wrote so perfectly, and have both been doing the same genre recently. it’s like a perfect collab. this is going to be great for lana’s career, and if you don’t like it just don’t listen to it, and if it’s bad does it matter?? it’s not on any of lana’s albums, it’s a feature and lana will only sing for a minute max. this isn’t a dont call me angel situation where it’s just going to be a random mix of genres because they literally make the same music, it’s quite clear some of you haven’t listened to taylor since she stopped doing pop. anyways besides that i think it will definitely be a folkloresque song, maybe something like august. i’m really excited cause taylor and lana are basically my favourite artists!

us lana stans are frequently the  "i'm not like other girls!!! i'm quirky and different" type and hate anything mainstream for the sake of being mainstream because of our delusions of superiority. at least that's my theory

Don't kill me but fuck I don't like Taylor, and I don't understand this collaboration :noparty:. It doesn't make sense unless Lana wants more success. Taylor is bland and uninspiring. I'm not thrilled, I hope it won't drag her down musically.

I miss the time when Lana worked with interesting musicians, and I put The Weeknd in the pile. The 2 were commercially interesting with close universes. Taylor is nothingness, nothing happens. She can do better :toofunny:. I would still listen to the title because after all they may surprise me but I don't expect anything.

This is my opinion, don't take it as an offense because I respect your choices. You guys are lucky, your time is finally coming, you must be so happy.

I would have liked a duet between her and Marina. But business and business. :toofunny:

I think they're friends so it makes sense for them to want to work together

nobody asked but i saw this when i was little and i didn't know who taylor swift was and i didn't understand what a "parody" was either. so i just thought this was a real song and i sent it to everyone and posted it everywhere cause i loved it so much

just thought i'd contribute to this thread :true:

not-so-fun-fact? pouring alcohol directly down your butthole can kill you because the alcohol goes directly into your bloodstream that way

i once saw a youtube video of this couple who did coffee enemas and how much they loved it and it makes sense because the caffeine was going directly into their bloodstream when the coffee is in their butt

omg this awoke a forgotten memory in me. i remember watching this

Not me only now fully realizing and understanding the lyric of "Lying to herself because her liquor's top shelf" 10 years later. :toofunny:

I was 14 when this album came out so I just thought she kept her liquor in the top shelf of her cabinet because I didn't know what top shelf liquor was. :toofunny: For some reason, I always pictured her having to like getting on the kitchen counter to reach her liquor. :toofunny: And I've never really reevaluated my thought process until now. :toofunny:

To be fair, I'm someone who pays more attention to the music than the lyrics soooo :eek3:

it can also be symbolically read as meaning her drinking is her top priority/ highest valued thing in her life :agree:

  9. i first listened to lana when i was like 12. My cousin came over and I was casually sitting on the computer in the same room.  I just put lana del rey born to die on because i figured that's what cool hipster people liked and i wanted to impress her with my fake indie taste :smokes2:

lana’s “lolita” phase was over 10 years ago and just because she did it doesn’t mean it’s okay for people today to partake in that aesthetic, it’s gross to romanticize that book and make it into some sort of edgy love story, i don’t think every reference lana made to that book was necessarily wrong, but some of them don’t feel like they’re true to the actual nature of the book and what it was actually about (i don’t like the song “lolita” very much for this reason… i can’t help but feel like that song was not about the book and more about the sensationalized version of lolita)

I basically don't have a problem with romanticization/glamorization of bad things. so I respectfully disagree

I'm so glad this didn't come out. I really, truly did not want to hear the discourse around her doing anything related to "institutions".

but it still seems like she plans on releasing it, doesn't it? she only ever brings it up in a sort of anticipatory attitude, and it looks like a lot of work has gone into it already so she probably wouldn't just abandon it

we’ve got the record exec confirmed, her friends Jim  and Bill too, I don’t know why she’d lie about k but she does have a pathological tendency so who knows.

she's not a pathological liar for wanting to create her own artistic world/story. It's not like she has a responsibility to tell her real life story to millions of strangers
