From the beginning it was one of my top favorite Ocean Blvd songs, and then I learned it was ranked as one of the worst by most people. Lana sounds lovely, the lyrics are really good (and serve as the yang to Paris Texas' yin), it's a great post-rock / dream pop song. It sounds waltzy without even being 3/4. And it's one of the only happily romantic Lana songs.

     

    And I know this is actually unpopular, but I absolutely love Jack's verse. 

     

    Also the chemistry between them is amazing.

    everything post-strange mercy (a perfect album) has been so hit or miss for me...self-titled didn't hit except for rattlesnakes, loved a lot of masseduction, hated daddy's home. have no idea what to expect with the new one! but hope i dig it.

    Ever since its release I’ve been a major COCC era girlie, even tho it wasn’t a super active one.

     

    will forever be obsessed w her look during HM era, the black hair, the title track video…

     

    NFR is the era that brought me back to Lana after a few years away so I will always have big love for it- also the era that brought me to LB! I never looked at neon green the same way again :diva:

    And the subject matter of the essays in this collection (and as far as I understand Joan Didion's work in general) is sooo interesting as a Lana fan;  California, Los Angeles,  Hollywood, the state of "The American Dream"...

     

    I was curious to see if Lana has ever mentioned Joan Didion and it seems like she hasn't but when I searched the forums I found an old post from @Trash Magic about this photoshoot of Joan Didion maybe having inspired the Ultraviolence cover and I can really see it tbh

     

    her novel play it as it lays is EXTREMELY lana coded! lady on the edge of sanity, long aimless drives around los angles...

     

    just started kelly link's new novel the book of love and it's already incredible, i love her so much.
