Impeccable taste!!!!! I'm here for the rest of your manifestations. But yall, let's start partying! I cant speak for the rest of you, but I dont think my mind is fully recovered from election week. The news grows more grim by the day, the sentient orange gourd still wreaking havoc, an uncertainty still tainting the very air.(but there is hope). Im so emotionally spent, and like a dove with a vine, Lana has come to lift my head and look forward. Yes its a cover, one I actually really cherish, especially Scarlett Johansson's version. But this is going to be an absolute serve, and I want my favorite friends of the boards celebrating with me. Im grabbing a bottle tonightttttt!!!!!

yeah this week has been rough as hell and I am SO grateful for a new Lana song to bring a little joy into my life :crai:

not sure if this has been covered before but what exactly constitutes an American classic or standard like .. can we expect only the old vintage songs or would some more modern songs count? like surely all I want for Christmas by Mariah Carey is an American classic

idk what lana's interpretation of classic or standard is but the commonly understood version is the great american songbook type stuff, gershwin, cole porter etc. i could def see lana extending this out to some 60s/70s classics too

i love that she's exploring her vocal potencial these times  also i'm a little worried about the production considering how fast they've done it..

sometimes I think Lana does some of her best stuff when it’s a faster process and she doesn’t have too much time to think

  4. interesting to learn that her book advance was 1 million (since she mentions donating a million dollars across the country, the first part of which was to the navajo water project as she previously mentioned). wonder if this was for both books or just for violet.

im so jealous. I saw her for native invader and she did some of my favorite songs (mother, pretty good year, cooling), so it was a great experience as my first Tori show, but if I could go back to any time for a show it would be a Tori show between 1996-1999. She was on fire then. I just don’t know if I’d want it mostly solo or with a full band because she’s great either way. I wish so bad I could have seen her back then.

those were the glory years!! though i super loved the strange little girls and beekeeper tours as well. saw her in 96 and 98 (for choirgirl tour) which was also absolutely incredible. she is still and prob always will be incredible live. i also love how every night of a tour could hold so many surprises– she's the best at keeping setlists interesting and playing cult favs (wish lana would take a page from tori's setlist book lol)

  6. BFP is a perfect and incredibly unique record, also one of my all time favs. the lyrics are next level. tbh tori's output up through beekeeper was absolutely iconic, esp her first six records. under the pink, choirgirl, and venus are probs my fav after BFP though i love scarlet's walk and LE too...would love to see a return to form from her one day but tbh at this point i don't think it's gonna happen. she will forever be an icon tho and i will never miss a show when she tours near me. BFP tour one of the best live shows i've ever seen.

  7. roses bloom for you, plus an assortment of outtakes from honeymoon, ultraviolence, and NFR. i would also love to hear any of the early versions of NFR (the song) if they exist, bc i loved that little bit jack and lana tried to remember during the livestream. if there's anything else around from whenever i talk to jesus was recorded i'd love to hear that, and tbh also whatever other early demos there are for LFL songs (a heroin demo would be dreamy). i love the demos for LFL the song and beautiful people and it'd be cool to see if/how other songs on LFL changed when lana decided to try and make the record's outlook a little brighter. this is a very long answer and not a list at all but so it goes :hoe:

edit: i would also die to hear more concept demos (i love valley of the dolls) and her voicenotes from when she records vocal ideas for songs (this would never happen but still, can dream)
