  1. for some of us we’ve been a fan for 12 years lol I feel like it’s perfectly acceptable when she JUST got married for us to express our emotions… in the…. marriage topic
  2. I understand. my point is, I think you're thinking that sometime between 2019-2023, there was some sort of shift, and my argument is that I don't think there was ever a shift. since 2008 she's been singing about guns. I think she's been pretty consistent this whole time, and people (including me) were projecting their preferred ideas of who she should be onto her. she's your average american white women with some pretty heinous political takes. when all you know from someone is their music, it allows for a lot of interpretation. it takes the person marrying a seemingly far-right person for us to go, oh. yeah. she's not like that.
  3. the only progressive celebrity right now is chappell. azealia banks is correct when she says everyone else just virtue signals.
  4. here is the thing about american politics. americans are ignorant. we are all notoriously ignorant. that's becuase a) the system is built that way to keep us working and ignoring inequality and b) we have rightwing media (even our "liberal" media is rightwing) that has penetrated our collective zeitgeist, leading to pro-capitalist views, all sprinkled with some american exceptionalism. lana is explicitly a capitalist - she literally said the words "i am a capitalist" and it is clear by her music that she's a believer in american exceptionalism. her preferred aesthetics are old hollywood and southern americana, which doesn't come as a surprise, because both of these aesthetics have a preferred social hierarchy ... patriarchal and anti-black anti-poc. she's a country girl at heart, she grew up in lake placid. a pretty wealthy town, but a small midwestern vibe nontheless. yes, at one point she seemed super political, but i think that was probably out of character for her. i think deep down she is a center-left democrat, and that basically means she's rightwing. we are a very conservative nation. and the richer you get, the more conservative you get.
  5. if it ever comes out that lana knew he was in a relationship and still pursued him, that would really bother me. i don't like that shit.
  6. it's hard to say. i found an old voter registration in new york but that doesn't mean she's not registered in california now as a democrat
  7. i'm going to take this down if i get flamed for this but i sleuthed a couple years back and found that she's a registered independent in new york - not a democrat. girlie is not a progressive. she doesn't care.
  8. i heard that video of him speaking.... brotha eugh. i couldn't imagine listening to that voice for the rest of my life
  9. idk with all the bad boys and trailer park aesthetic lana sings about and has cultivated in her world-building i guess now that the initial shock of it has worn off, it just makes sense. "forget that lefty shit your mom drilled in your mind"
  10. i just don't think lana or her team care about what the media says. occasionally she'll respond to a bad review or weird stan accusations (trump, her wealth, etc.) but i really don't think she's going to adjust her album schedule as a reaction to this wedding backlash. i don't think she cares at all
  11. facebook and he removed it. probably got back to him from lana and crew that it was, uh, completely fucked up.
  12. imo this record is definitely on hold. i don't have experience being in weddings but i know that they consume so much time. and then you want to spend time w your spouse as newlyweds. i'm also interested to see how this life change will affect her music. will she split time between louisiana and LA? is she interested in pivoting away from festivals, touring, and settling down (for lack of a better term)? she is already an incredibly private person and i wouldn't be surprised if she has had a deep longing to step away from the hollywood scene ("i'm ready to leave LA and i want you to come"). and if she does, i wonder what that will look like. i know it can seem like a silly speculation, but what if she decides to stop recording under lana del rey? maybe that "project" is over. maybe not, though.
  13. Not going to get into this on Lanaboards because there’s plenty of discussion online around behind the term ACAB. Short answer is that I’m sure they can be nice when the uniform is off. Being a cop is working on behalf of the state, often weaponized against marginalized communities. My overall point was I would be way more disgusted w her marrying a cop rather than a guy from Louisiana. One holds tremendous power and the other is a pretty standard American Republican
  14. Yeahhh for me personally it’s ACAB 100%. And not only was Sean Larkin a cop, he was a cop prominently featured on Tulsa Live PD, a show that exploited POC, poor people, people with addictions, etc. it seems like Lana has a type; and that type is not progressive. At all.
  15. Insane. I know she’s most likely telling him to tune this all out, but this must be a lot for them both. Good lord
  16. Maybe she requested he take the post down because of all the backlash, so she’s aware of it, and him taking it down was the right move. Maybe he realizes it was stupid. Hard to say if that means she cares though. Also, I did remember the person she and Chuck adored - Goddess Bunny. She is a drag queen. I don’t believe she is considered trans. Edit: she is trans
  17. I think that if you’re a father of daughters, you feel an inherent protection towards them if you genuinely believe that “predators” are trying to invade women’s restrooms— it is a completely ignorant conclusion, but unfortunately that is a right wing media operation that worked and continues to work to invalidate trans women in sports. It’s lack of education, fear, and a desire not to learn more. I hope Lana can change his mind if she even cares. I don’t think this man has ever met a trans person. It’s probably not safe in that area of the country
  18. On the anti-trans bathroom pic - Fox News was pushing the bathroom narrative for YEARS. The idea that trans women aren’t actual trans women (in their ideology there is no such thing, anyway) but men dressing up as women to harass girls, AKA the JK Rowling ideology (ContraPoints has a great video on this) What does surprise me, though, is that someone would openly post a genuinely disturbing pic like that onto a public Facebook account. Like hello?? I am not trans, I am an ally, so this shit hurts me but not as deeply as it would hurt a trans person. I am able to have a distance from this problem that a trans Lana fan wouldn’t. Therefore we should give them their grace. It sucks so badly. I am not sure what Lana’s views on trans people are. Surely she knows she has trans fans, and didn’t she and Chuck have a deep affection for a disabled trans person? I forget the name of her, but she was really famous and died recently. Maybe they’ll have conversations and she can open his mind, assuming she cares.
  19. If it were me and I knew I had trans fans I would feel bad about marrying someone like that. Idk
  20. that’s another interpretation, but that’s on her, honestly, for marrying him? she’s the one who’s famous. it’s really not his fault that people are digging up info about him. they both know this and are prepared for the bullshit (at least, she is)
