Her first statement when she got on too was about how she couldn't find a cute outfit for her avatar and she asked people to "please don't be mean to [her]" so it was just... Really awkward. I do think the people there deffinetly contributed but I kinda feel like it would've been a bit awkward reguardless. She deffinetly just seemed uninterested in the whole thing and honestly I don't blame her. It looked like a knockoff roblox game.

They have History listed as R&B and Soul so... Yeah it's seriously gone down hill. It's been a downward slope since they decided to remove the unconfirmed songs list.

The file said "rough", and that was allegedly the og file.

Do we know if more demos exist of Under The Desk? She's iconic and I'd love to hear a more finished demo.

The thing that bothers me is Melanie has never truly been broke, she takes not being able to go out and film a movie just because she wants to and spins it as "oh my god I'm so broke!". Like, even what she said about the royalties Spotify and such pay, that does not effect her. That effects the tiny artists who don't have funding to make their shit. When you get millions of streams a month you make plenty of money off streams. She's got money pouring out her ass at this point. She owns a two million dollar home, buys designer clothes and $150 shirts that look like they were sent through a paper shredder, and gets her clothes for live shows made custom just for her, usually to only wear them once or twice. She is incredibly rich and she's acting broke. She isn't entitled to millions in funding to make whatever she wants when it doesn't do well. A record label isn't going to fund something that won't recoup the money it takes from their pockets, especially when films are not their niche. Your fans don't owe you paying for your absurd projects especially when you won't take criticism. If she were actually a small, broke artist, I'd have sympathy, but that was over five years ago. She has had all the funding she's needed since crybaby to make amazing projects and poorly spends it on a consistent basis. I have a feeling the funding they gave her for K-12 made her believe she needs that for every project and she doesn't.

I'm honestly not sure what's gotten into her. People keep saying it's to fund a film but seeing as she was able to spend a month in Hawaii at 1k a night I have no doubts Atlantic gave her a sizeable advance. She definitely doesn't need this money to make the album/film happen. My only thought is she for some reason thinks her (honestly huge) monthly royalty checks aren't enough? Honestly I'm not into this whole selling fans random shit without transparency into what she's selling. She really should just sell her outtakes or get a day job at this point.

The depop comments kinda roasted her by saying these prices are why they only stream her leaks 😂

Worst part is she didn't say what the materials are or where they came from so for all we know they're 100% plastic 🥴 this is not it miss girl.

Let's be real the moment she did that someone would buy the Patreon for a month and leak them all. I think they are? Tbh there's not a ton of demand for CDs. I'm not doing any.

Yeah, the not knowing what anything was made of was a lil sus to me too. If those chains weren't at least made of real gold than any of us could've made the same thing for ~20 bucks with a few hours and a trip to hobby lobby. When she announced the NFTs her Instagram comments were telling her to make an onlyfans for unreleased 😂

The pearls definitely aren't real, and a lot of the other beads seem to be plastic or clay as well. I can't tell of the photos are just heavily filtered or if they're made from fake gold either, but they're definitely made from low quality materials that'll turn your neck green. I feel like there's so many other things she could do to more effectively make money without having to sell junk to her young fan base for insane prices too. She could definitely put out an After School - B Sides for example with some outtakes to generate more revenue from streaming, exclusive merch, and physical sales, although I can see why this is unrealistic. If she actually does put out a single in March I'm sure that'll generate some good revenue for her, but honestly she should make an effort to just be more present. If her following grows that looks good for her to Atlantic.

The way they were $111-$444 and still all sold 🥴 I swear people will pay ANYTHING for something Mel touched. Am I crazy or does anyone else remember someone selling one of the oranges she threw during the K-12 tour?

If you look back at old shows of her live, such as this one, you can actually tell that similarly to Britney Spears (who, like Mel, has pushed a babyish tone for years) once had a strong alto ranged voice. I think so long of pushing that baby voice is a huge factor to the vocal damage. The insane touring schedule deffinetly hit hard too but that's common under Atlantic.

Unfortunately, true vocal damage like Melanie's is usually permanant. I don't think her voice is unuseable, but I don't think she's going to be able to continue singing the way we are used to for much longer. The technique she's using for that babyish tone throughout most of her discography isn't good for your voice, especially when you've already got vocal damage. She's shown in some of these recent tracks, like Test Me and Leeches that she's fully capable of singing with a less babyish tone. Beginning to smoke again earlier this year deffinetly did not help her in the recent sessions but I do think people are too quick to blame smoking for all of her problems. There's a lot of things that went into the damage to her voice and it's really being blamed on one factor because it's easier to blame her smoking than the idea that it's poor technique or her heavy scheduling for the Crybaby and K-12 tours. I do think another aspect of why Melanie sounds so bad on some of these mm3 sessions is just the mic she's using. (Which is the Shure SM7B, you can see it on the Instagram post from February 11th of this year) The mic she's using is meant for podcasts, so in a vocal performance she's having to push harder than she would for a propper vocal mic. Overall, I think it's just a lot of factors combining to make her voice sound especially bad on these sessions.

Didn't pastelae say around this point that she wasn't working with Melanie? I think it may have just been coincidence in this case. That said, I really hope she doesn't do the visuals for this era. The artist who did the visuals for After School should do them instead IMO. They better suit the new themes and sounds.

I hated Absorb when it leaked, but wow, she's a grower. The EP could've been so much better why did she scrap songs like History 😭

Atlantic really didn't put her in a bad position with the budget for K-12. It was around 5-7 million dollars which for someone who's never made a film before is an incredibly large amount of money (for reference, films like Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Saw, and Paranormal Activity were actually made with far smaller budgets, all under 4 mil.) The issue with the budget is that a lot of the things she wanted to do, like rent out and film in a real castle in Hungary for a month, cost a LOT of money, and very quickly ate through her budget. I think had she cut some corners on things that were less important she could've used that budget far better than she actually ended up being able to and made a film that was better overall. I do think Atlantic will probably give her a smaller budget this time, though, because K-12 (as a film) didn't do very well. Streams, merch, touring, and the blow up of Crybaby are probably the only real reasons she's getting to do a second film, but I guess we will see on that.

Lost & Found is such a pretty song. The garage band strings pain me though because I just know the song could've been so much more than it is if the strings sounded better. History definetly should've made the final tracklist in place of Notebook and I think Absorb could take the place of Brain & Heart easily.

I really don’t want her to go back to Keenan. It’s really refreshing to finally be hearing something different from his work so I just wish they’d figure out something better in terms of security. Clearly whatever they’re using isn’t working. They should just go back to ole faithful and put everything on a flash drive at this point.

From what I know, the vocal synthesizer Melanie has used on a lot of these tracks sometimes causes odd peaks depending on how they were mixed. Although I've not tested this myself so I can't be positive on that.

A hq snippet ended up on dbree and it's definitely real :/. I'm really scared that when I go to bed I will wake up to even more leaks. I feel so bad for Melanie rn.

She said recently the film/album aren't done which makes me think 2023 is far more realistic. I just can't see the film being approved (script wise), costumed, cast, filmed, edited, promoted, and released in the 14 months before 2023, and that's given she were to get the script in and approved as of today. If it is there would have to be cuts in the quality of the film and such. I do seriously hope mm4 gives us music videos. I think that ship has sailed for mm3 unfortunately (which is really sad since I think with the way she seems to be going sonically and thematically music videos would've been more visually interesting and creative than what a film would allow her).

I was hoping she'd ditch it for mm3 with COVID but she's still doing it. No music videos for this era sadly except for film clips... Idk who keeps funding these films or why because as said here earlier the last film did incredibly poorly. If it made up it's funding it did so by touring, merchandise and streams from both k-12 and crybaby.
