I really hope that some day some Lana stans understand that Lana will continue making piano ballads or stripped down music no matter who the producer/collaborator is, if that is what she wants. She already brought in Mike Dean(primarily a hip-hop producer) and Jon Batiste(jazz/pop) and the songs still ended up being piano ballads.

She is like 7k units away from the #2 spot. Maybe if a song randomly goes viral or she puts up signed copies or a deluxe version. I don’t see the last two options happening though.

Are you sure they still count for MC? Kind of weird that MC doesn’t have any music reviews from them this year.

It’s at 81 for me with 19 reviews. Not seeing LA times there though.

Fingertips being the least streamed song… Undeserved but I understand why. Good to see A&W doing so well. It’s something different for Lana and such a great song.

Sweet seems more Sean than Jack to me. Especially the “If you want some basic bitch, go to the Beverly Center and find her” line. I agree with CN and Kintsugi though.

Mike put up a post about the album on his Insta stories. I really enjoyed all the songs that he and Lana wrote together(The Grants, DYK, LTLI, Peppers, and Taco Truck). They seem to have worked well together despite him not being a professional musician.

I ordered the Target and Amazon versions, but I think I like the standard version the most now. I may wait for them to repress them with the RIOPY credit on the cover and buy it then.

Listened to the album in my car for the first time and I’m not really hearing the audio issues that other people are hearing. I was listening on Spotify and only Kintsugi sounded a bit muffled, but it sounded like that in the leak too. The first half of the album grew on me a lot though. The only song that’s really still a skip for me is Kintsugi. It just goes on for too long in my opinion.

I think the album is just not very GP friendly. I saw a semi-viral tweet calling it boring, and I don’t remember seeing that when COCC and BB came out. It’s still kind of surprising that she may not or barely out do NFR numbers when she has double the amount of monthly listeners now.

Does anyone have full Spotify numbers? I saw that her highest charting song was Candy Necklace at 91. Kind of low since A&W opened at like 27 when it was first released.

This album feels like another Honeymoon in the sense that it isn’t that critically acclaimed and mainly appeals to hardcore fans.

Yeah it’s very rare for a female pop singer to score below an 80 on Metacritic these days.

I don’t think it counts unfortunately. I looked at some of their other albums of the week and didn’t see it listed on MC. If it were listed under reviews, then it would count.

Pitchfork added The Grants to their best of the week playlist. I’m still thinking it will get at least a 7.5 from them. It will be interesting to see if American reviews are any different from UK ones.

I really want to know if it’s normal for critics to be put in a single room with bad speakers to review an album.

Why would they play critics an incomplete album? That is so messy on their part if that is what happened.

I just tried the snippet she posted and AHA does recognize that but not the leaked version. Interesting.

Does the snippet she posted on Instagram work? I know that’s how we first found out the name of that track months ago.
