  1. it's perfect. In the video, she dies and gets a Star on the fucking Hollywood walk of fame. Just like Marilyn and so many others she's channeling here. And for what? Being famous and celebrated? Were those icons happy? No. the video couldn't have been more subversive and clever.
  2. EPIC SLAY The concept The deconstruction of pop culture glamour The obvious shade at the music industry The diamonds in blood Lana's looks The fashion! The throwback to National Anthem and Born to Die glamour The noir look and feel The uber hotness of John Baptiste How the teaser was already conceptual, when you think about it The fashion!!! One of her top 10 if not 5 videos ever and her best since Don't Call Me Angel. Also, the best video of 2023 hands down. I am dead ☠️
  3. you're just not getting it babe. It's a dis of the whole idea of nonsense pop video culture. music videos are dying out, people don't care, and the idea of Hollywood glamor and red carpet culture is tired af. because everyone knows right now that behind it is hard work, and pain, and sweat, and blood and couch casting, and tons of money and advertising and unequal pay, etc she explicitly voices this in the video by saying "i can't be a robot." she's over the industry. Like really over it. Tired of playing the game. She dissed it with Arcadia but this is taking it to the next level. So that's why she said "where do we go from here?" It's a full 180 from her BTD videos. honestly, i think it's the best and most important video of the year.

  5. Hi guys, I was just looking at Lana's Billboard 100 history, and noticed something... not great. Her last entry as a solo artist on the chart was back in 2009 (Doin' Time). Since then, we've seen her there but only with collabs (Don't Call Me Angel and Snow on the Beach). Chemtrails, Blue Banisters nor Ocean Boulevard charted, which means her last three albums didn't have a hit. Do you think this will change any time soon? And do you think America is closing the doors on her as she's hitting the age of 40? What's your take?
  6. Hollywood! I wish she did a whole album sounding more disco. Would make for a great change, and would probably get her back to the charts.
  7. Ha. Good to know! Well, I guess it doesn't fit HM that much. But would have fit on LFL production wise. I'm in such dire need of a "Best of LDR unreleased" compilation with a tracklist like: 1. Hollywood 2. Serial Killer 3. Angels Forever 4. Cry Kill Die 5. Backfire 6. Yes to Heaven 7. Ridin' 8. French Restaurant 9. You can be the Boss 10. Drivin' in Cars with Boys 11. Fine China 12. Goodbye Kiss Maybe also Disco, Dragon Slayer and Your Girl. Can you imagine how perfect that would be??? Maybe re-record it all with a producer like Max Martin or Rick Nowels and release as a new album?
  8. not feeling Purify much, based on the snippets. But would be good to hear. Now CRY KILL DIE from her Lust for Life sessions. I NEED THAT FULL SONG ASAP lol. Why was it left out when Coachella somehow made the cut? Ugh. It sounds soo good, and the line "I'll see you in hell" is Lana at her finest.
  9. One of her best ever, and my favorite post NFR alongside White Dress. Like, I'm tired of her piano ballads, but I listen to OB almost every day.
  10. Can we all please agree to stop calling it an era? She just released an album and opened an instagram account. What "era" are we all referring to? Violet had more promo lol
  11. Top 5 1. Ocean Boulevard (one of her best ever) 2. Paris, Texas 3. Taco Truck 4. Margaret 5. A&W
  12. That single was great. Something totally different for her and edgy. I would have directed a horror style video with her and ASAP Rocky. Neon, dark, moody, like a horror theme ride. Also, should have been a double vid with Groupie Love. I honestly can't believe that White Mustang got a super pricey video and Summer Bummer didn't. Super weird. Summer Bummer is THE bop of Lust for Life. And stands with Doin' Time as Lana Del Rey's last solo bop.
  13. Or maybe they realized the video was bad? Lord knows, CN doesn't deserve a video. Especially not when songs like Wild at Heart, Summer Bummer, Brooklyn Baby, Cherry and other songs exist video-less.
  14. it's a a bit of a mess yeah lyrically, I've noticed that. Starts with her feeling happy in the car. Then does the whole rockefella umbrella and how much she loves him thing, then goes into the whole "empty promises" analogy and how messy he is.
  15. Apparently, the only post release promotion we get is Lana randomly opening her insta to public and then closing it 😂 this era is....
  16. Nice try, guys. But I'm not taking the bait. If you don't like my comment, you can seethe and waste your energy but it's not my problem. Also disregarding your oh so innovative comments... Not in kintergarden over here, but you kids play ✌🏻
  17. agreed 💯. The lyricism genius of Hollywood, G&M and other tracks you mentioned is in short supply. Ocean Boulevard comes close and maybe A&W and Paris, Texas. (i took a trip to Paris... Texas) As for fun Lana, she insists on piano and she insists on minor key more and more. She's clearly given up on the idea of making a hit song. Even Doin' Time (her most radio friendly track in 4 years) was more of a lucky accident (soundtrack work, and she wasn't involved much in the production because I remember her saying that when she first heard it it "actually sounded good"). It all comes down to Antonoff and her other producers. They clearly let her have what she wants and call all the shots and don't find the fun side of Lana in the process. Maybe she got more depressed (which would explain both the music and the, ughm, weight gain), but I just wish she'd give us uptempo song ala Hollywood, High by the Beach, etc. Seeing her not make Billboard's top 100 for 3 years (except with collabs with lessor artists) is just sad. And it's not like she can't do these things. Sometimes it's just about speeding things up and changing up the production. (See the cover of Chemtrails by that girl band). Summertime Sadness is really a ballad at heart making as a pop song. And also, this is the same woman who gave us National Anthem, Radio, Off to the Races, Blue Jeans, High by the Beach, Doin' Time, Serial Killer, etc. etc. She CAN make pop songs we can sing and even dance to. Like, instead of two interludes and a voice note memo" turned into a song, she could have done another cover with upbeat production). With her talents and Jack (who produced Anti-hero and Bejeweled), it would take them a god-damn week) Disagree on Groupie Love though. I love that song.
  18. yeah she's very fast and prolific. I reckon she'll cook up sth for late next year (2024). I just hope it's sth different and upbeat. Maybe a disco record? Or another rock record? it's getting a bit samey (piano ballads)🥱
  19. Just made a revised ob playlist exclusing these tracks: fishtail kintsugi interlude 1 interlude 2 the album is infinitely better for it and runs under 1 h. So much better!
  20. about 6th for me too 1. nfr 🖤 2. btd 😍 3. uv 🥰 4. lfl 🤩 5. cocc 😁 6. ob 🤓 7. hm 😊 8. violet 🤔 9. aka 🫤 10. bb 🤮
  21. This era was such a serve. 1. A glorious album and undoubtedly her best 2. Career-best reviews 3. Year-end best-of lists 4. A certified bop that played on the radio (Doin' Time) with a cinematic MV that sits in her top 10. 5. Gorgeous ballads that put her back on the ballad map after Lust for Life's and Honeymoon's weak attempts, with Mariner's 6. A career defining song in Venice Bitch and Best New Track from Pitchfork 7. Another bop with Don't Call Me angel and a video that reached the cinematic quality of Shades of Cool and Born to Die - for the first time in years 8. A knockout look in Don't Call Me Angel that the internet went crazy for 9. A brilliant tour that I had the chance to see live where she absolutely slayed 10. A number of other and home-made videos that kept us engaged 11. And even a Lookin' for America single - a rare example of Lana being political that actually worked in her favor 12. A number of appearances on radio, the children's hospital and elsewhere to promote the album and keep the conversation going 13. A grammy nod and a major award win All in all, her best and most generous era since Born to Die. I can only hope her next era is like that.
  22. Tbh tho- better no videos at all than the lazy Arcadia or LMLYLAW style videos. Like, get a proper budget and give us one good MV serve like Born to Die, Ride, Shades of Cool, Young & Beautiful, National Anthem or Don't Call Me Angel. Those were like movies to me and perfectly complement the music. The last OK video she had was Chemtrails and Doin' Time but even those were small budget and nowhere near as cinematic as the ones I mentioned. I wonder if Interscope is struggling financially since Covid and generally in the streaming era. If I were Lana (and Ben), I would've demanded two videos - a glamorous tragic sad one for Ocean Boulevard, and a slutty crazy one for A&W. With a good treatment and director, 100 mil views guaranteed. Instead, we'll get a cheap Candy Necklace mv, which is doing poorly on streaming already and we'll end up with a 5 mill view count at best - if the video even comes out.
