I can’t stop thinking about Lana saying in the Billie interview that Norman was about world building while Tunnel is about straight vibing while in the meantime she has never been this visceral and brutally honest ever. I adore Norman (one of my favorite albums of all time for real) but lyrically speaking it’s much more polished and contained while Tunnel so far sounds like Lana offering access to a stream of consciousness so complex that it’s full of thoughts and feelings most people are afraid to express out loud. Two singles in and we’re already meeting a version of Lana/Elizabeth that is questioning her traumatic upbringing and how that filtered down to her life as a grown up where she’s confronting and dissecting her own specific coping mechanisms and revealing the toxicity and darkness behind them - while all of this is happening, she’s repurposing her persona as Lana Del Rey and all the imagery and symbolism attached to it and chaotically stripping all the allure down. Which is truly mind-boggling is her ability to own up to her choices and give new meaning to her decisions as a Elizabeth, the human being, which by itself adds so much to the LDR mystique and universe. If Norman is indeed about world building, Tunnel so far seems to be about finding peace in watching it all fall apart. It’s so incredibly complex and layered and the fact that she equaled this to “straight vibing” is sending me. Truly the greatest singer-songwriter alive.

I mean, look at my hair Look at the length of it there and the shape of my body If I told you that I was raped Do you really think that anybody would think I didn't ask for it, didn't ask for it? Didn't testify, already fucked up my story Top of this (Mm), so many other things you can't believe Did you know a singer can still be looking like a side piece at thirty-three? God's a charlatan, don't look at me Puts the shower on while he calls me Seems like a bad time to talk to me I'm invisible, look how you hold me I'm invisible, I'm invisible I'm a ghost now, look how you hold me now The fact that she outdid WW with this one. This is so fucking brutal.

Much better than what I anticipated. I hear tinges of Black Bathing Suit in part 1 but this is a new direction for her while encapsulating so many facets and previous eras. No comparison to other songs would do it justice. Wow. And the fact that the insiders are saying this isn’t even the best song. Damn.

This is one of her best songs ever. She’s a legend. I’m absolutely speechless and in shock.

You should have a seat or two because 1. listening to a Lana song hours before the rest of the fandom isn’t the slay you think it is, 2. having an attitude gratuitously just because you wanna act like Bootleg Kintsugi is not gonna do you wonders in here, 3. coming on here describing the song in a way that you know is going to inject chaos and noise in a day that is supposed to be cool and exciting. Don’t come for me with that energy because you’re knocking at the wrong mf door.

Amazing list. Not to put any pressure on whoever’s making the TUOB theme, I’d also like to say I really am looking forward for that and also: do you think it will be made in time for the album release? I think it could be fun to be here on release day with the TUOB theme (personally speaking ofc!).

Oh we agree on that. Sadly we’re on different sides of this subject. You seem believe the world is a Benetton catalogue. I have reasons to believe things are tricker and more complex than that. Anyways I’ll leave this here:

What fucks up our society is all the platforms, opportunities and rewards caucasian people are continuously given in detriment of minorities. Renaissance was more critically acclaimed than Harry’s House, had much more of a cultural footprint, Beyoncé is way more overdue as an artist than first time GF nominee Harry Styles and we can all agree she takes risks as an artist as opposed to Harry who’s stuck in a commercially palatable wheelhouse that is inoffensive at best and lethargic at worst. That you come with this All Lives Matter type bullshit instead of questioning these old-white-men-led institutions and regulations tells me more about your complicit positioning in this debate rather than some supposed toxicity in a Lana Del Rey message board LOL. It’s also very troubling to me that this is what grinds your gears as opposed to perpetually seeing POC artists get sidelined and/or underappreciated and/or instrumentalized for views and attention and refusing to address THAT issue.

No wonder Beyoncé didn’t perform at the Grammys, she knew. They’ll be lucky if she ever sets a foot on their stage ever again. ”This doesn’t happen to people like me” is something only a mediocre str8 white man with a lot of nerve could have said.
