“all i wanted to do was put out my stupid little album that i started writing when i was a teenager and now im getting paraded around in front of people i’ve never met who want to make money off of me and getting told i’m ugly and a man and that i want to be someone i don’t even listen to and there’s a million strangers that i don’t know who need something from me and i’m sick and i’m tired and i’m anxious and i don’t want to do this anymore, i want to change my phone number and go home and get a job at pizza hut and be fucking normal. i hate this shit and i have never been more miserable.”

she said the entire inbred album absolutely killed her throat, which doesn’t surprise me but i’m sure that she’ll play crush and maybe unpunishable

I've been promising this for like a week now so thank u for being patient with me (life has taken some weird turns and I rlly haven't had time to get on my laptop) BUT
here are the long awaited HQ Soundcloud demos!
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nX-DuaaN3kcdfppIvZZsWVbP3XCqdqmq?usp=sharing
my personal favs out of this bunch are romeos daddy, tongue, half-cocked, and wrestling in dirt pits. they sound so much better
and as a disclaimer, I didn't hack her Soundcloud or anything, just found out how to get higher quality.
these are roughly 320, not entirely sure, but DEFINITELY better than what we had

alright this is the masterpost / tracker link
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1teQjMM-ocautithNMJzGwnCDUmuBeJ97Z9nsCTzo0c4/edit?usp=sharing
literally took me at least an hour to make
also there's probably some fixes i'm gonna have to make (ie. some tracks are available in better quality, missing info, etc.)
people that wanted it: @hippo @CHARLICXC @David555

quite a few updates happened last night.
-If she wins a grammy, she’ll officially release Saddle Up
-Her tour booking agents are prioritizing the south for obvious reasons (something lana will never do)
-The b-sides to Preacher’s Daughter will be a completely separate EP and have a different cover, but will be packaged as bonus tracks for the physical release
-Her least favorite food is beef stroganoff
-Family Tree (Intro), August Underground, and Televangelism are all instrumentals with guitar, piano, scary sounds, and lap steel
-Only 3 songs are under 4 minutes
-The album should be listened to in order and that’s the only way it will make sense, but it’ll all make more sense when the book comes out.
-She’ll be doing a live stream on instagram for the Strangers release on April 7th. Here’s the artwork and presave link:

I've tuned in to a couple of her IG lives once I realized that she even had an instagram, as elusive as I thought she was and still is tbh. and she mentioned the films and how that's actually what she wanted to go to school for and what she wanted to pursue. but, now she's telling the story through the music first and I'm sure someone will see her vision and let her branch out and make a movie. especially since I'm pretty sure the critics are loving her right now. (my question is... will the albums become the film's soundtrack or are they meant to be a separate experience? )
but here is her talking about the trilogy on her tumblr account:

*joins the conversation*
ever since I heard michelle pfeiffer in feb last year I was intrigued, but when I heard crush in april I became OBSESSED. crush was my most streamed non-LDR song of 2021 so it's safe to say I am so excited for may 12th. this has got to be my most anticipated (announced) album of 2022. her voice and the feeling behind her lyrics are like none other. I know she has been met with lana comparisons, but she seems okay with them because she knows she's in her own southern baptist gothic lane. however, yes both of their catalogues are very haunting and evocative of america.
and the fact that she wants to make a trilogy of albums and then a trio of accompanying movies?? I love her ambition and it's clear to me that she's one of those artists that I won't hear a bad released song from because her passion is in it. so glad to have discovered her, from a friend actually.
+her cover of britney's everytime is beautiful.

probably not gonna be upbeat i predict. have you listen to the demos already available and the ones she’s already sang live? i’m pretty sure like 2-4 songs will be upbeat more on the crush side of BPM but i still think it’ll be the classic ethel cain sound. we already know that family tree, gibson girl, a house in nebraska, televangelism, thoroughfare, and strangers are more downtempo. and that’s 6/12 (without counting the family tree intro, which i’m assuming will be downtempo too, making it 7/13 slower songs)
i definitely like her more upbeat songs, and think songs like saddle up and romeo’s daddy would fit perfectly into the coming ethel cain story considering she’s a prostitute, but i’m thinking the next album in the trilogy will be more sexy nun inspired and dramatic

she’s owned daughters of cain LLC since early 2020, and in late 2020 DOC got licensed to RX songs under a promotional contract, so he doesn’t have anything to do with her or her music, the company just promotes her. she said she’s never seen or talked to him and nothing of hers goes through him at all.
golden age was produced by Yah Wav (formerly Little Triste, look up “white silas little triste nightmares EP if you want to hear some GREAT older music or hers)
Inbred was completely produced by hayden, except one of her friends being a live drum accompaniment.
preachers daughter is also entirely produced by her and engineered by her and matthew tomasi who produced nicole dollanganger’s natural born losers and heart shaped bed.

i do believe there is a direct nicole dollanganger to ethel cain pipeline so check her out, even though their music isn’t that similar. i know she’s inspired a lot by florence and the machine so that too. and on some of her bandcamp unreleased album songs i think her voice sounds very very similar to caroline polachek. edith underground is also one of her best friends and i think she makes wonderful music and hayden reposts a lot of it so try that as well. as for anything else, i’m not really sure because she has a pretty unique style that i haven’t seen a great similarity to. her EP “nightmares” under white silas on spotify is rlly good so check that one out
