Just ended up first listen. Here’s my ranking with some comments: 1. A&W 2. Taco Truck x VB - very unpopular opinion: as I said and was crashed, I didn’t like NFR version of VB, but this new version saved this track for me. I liked much more than Taco truck part and NFR VB, at least on the first listen. She says she can be violent on the track. I think she’s referencing Ultraviolence. Edit: I also REALLY think she wants to say something with repeating VB on the very ending of the album. Just don’t know what yet. 3. Let The Light In - so beautiful, I think it would make a great single 4. Peppers - I wish she sang more, specially on the chorus, and leave less for Tommy Genesis 5. Grandfather 6. Candy Necklace - as in several recent songs from her, I REAAALLY miss a bridge in this beautiful song 7. Fingertips - I was very wowed with the lyrics. So heavy it may need time to digest. But it ranked way above I thought it would. The song is beautiful and I like heavy lyrics 8. Margaret - I liked Jacks voice but man if it is hard to understand what Lana says, i this man is twice harder lol 9. Sweet - it got me when she sings similarly to the most beautiful part of Wait For Life 10. The Grants - this song is VERY hard for me to listen, because I lost my beloved dad a few months ago. It has very a beautiful melody, specially in the verses 11. Paris, Texas - I feel a tense energy in this song. it sounds familiar but don’t remember where from 12. Fishtail - disappointed to this one. May grow. Everybody’s comparing to Cherry and I didn’t like Cherry at first so… 13. Jon Baptiste 14. OB 15. Kintsugi 16. Judah Smith - I feel like she’s kinda mocking the speaker and also being ironic with the end being he’s talking about himself…

Well, OB actually decreased on me when I first heard it with all its layers I thought “I’m sure I’ll end up loving this song” ( I don’t usually love songs at first listens) but I’ve heard it several times and.. meh. The Grants has a better melody so I’m still hopeful I also loved A&W, actually I loved it from the first time. It reminded me of AKA days which I thought she would never recall. I’m glad that at least we have this song. The last time I liked a lana’s song that much (not considering unreleased tracks) was with title track of COCC. but yes, I think she’s doing what she wants to. Hope she’s happy but it’ll be better if she’s happy with songs I like

Omg this is what I’m most afraid of - Ocean Boulevard being similar to COCC and BB and then she keeps in this comfort zone… I really dislike COCC and BB, sorry guys when I heard COCC I was sure that I would never dislike more a Lana’s album, and then BB came out Ocean Boulevard title track didn’t get me either as I thought it was a more produced version of BBS songs so I’m afraid she continues that way. oh but I didn’t hear any leaks so I may be reaaaally wrong (hope so )

Quite impressed with how TV in Black and White was so rarely mentioned. Money hunny is also one of the saddest to me, as well as If I Die Young, Methamphetamines, Black Beauty, You, Mister, Fine China and the BPBP demo. But for me, I think Bentley (which I think wasn’t mentioned at all) wins the sad pot. Lana also has several songs that are not sad in an obvious way, but you can sense there’s something reaaally wrong in there, which makes them sad. A few examples for me are Roller Derby (even more than Pin Up Galore), Dance For Money, Hundred Dollar Bill (cmon she says she literally wants to die on it) and Heavy Hitter. I think she’s feeling sad but is being ironic about it. Tired Of Singing the Blues is also sad, in an angry way. I love to hear it when I feel like there’s no hope in life and the world is a cruel place.
