all the writing and arguing over a song about her family... okay

I love how people think that it’s about her family (or when people say it’s about love) when in fact it’s about her pov.

like she’s not singing about caroline or her brother or her dad, she’s singing about how she builds her relationship with the world– and her family members, ex-boyfriends, friends, nemesis, fame and culture are all a part of it. She’s talking about her relationship with the Big Other

It’s a nice little track but it sort of gives off a feeling that is was written and produced for Lana herself, primarily, rather than for an audience or wide audience or public.

    this, I call it sleepy.

I like it! But as someone’s mom said: “it’s a lana del rey song”.

I really love her talking about her gramma and her niece– it is really precious and cute! and it really is nice to see how she sees herself in the family: as someone who have to take care/save them. It’s a beautiful Lana’s trait that we have not seen before.

In more “objective” lens the lyrics are kinda repetitive.

i recognize the backing vocals ability in the beginning of the song (and it really does make it possible for this song being distinguished from any other) but the instrumental isn’t that magnific– I don’t think it’s bad nor good – we could have something better

this song have it’s ups and downs, i’d rate it like a 7 maybe, while A&W is 9.5 and DYKTTATUOB is 8.5

*please dont bash me, it’s just an opinion and not the ultimate truth about lana’s music

PIMENTAS :eartha: pls now I wanna see Lana songs in pt br

It's really hard translating her songs though, some things really don't work at all :toofunny:

Lol exactly! Her lyrics sounds really cheesy in pt br tbh. They sound amazing in english, but in portuguese some of them are like REALLY cringe.

    love her tho

Yeah but do they refer to Venice (USA) as "Venecia" or "Venice"? lol I know she means the one in California :judgingu3:

And I think it can be both, but we have to consider the anglicisation of the languages.

for example, here in Brazil we speak portuguese, right?
but it’s not uncommon to see people writing Nova York instead of Nova Iorque or saying like Venice Beach instead of Praia de Veneza, you know?

Anyway, if you’re curious, here’s some Lana’s titles in (brazilian)portuguese:

    1. The Grants/Os Grants
    2. Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd/ Você sabia que tem um túnel embaixo da Ocean Boulevard?
    3. Sweet/Doce
    4. AW/Puta Americana
    5. Judah Smith Interlude/ Interlúdio do Judah Smith
    6. Candy Necklace/ Colar de Bala (or Colar de Doce)
    7. Jon Batiste Interlude/ Interlúdio do Jon Batiste
    8. Kintsugi/ Kintsugi
    9. Fingertips/ Pontas dos Dedos
    10. Paris, Texas/ Paris, Texas
    11. Grandfather Please Stand on The Shoulders of My Father While He’s Deep-Sea Fishing/ Avô por favor fique nos ombros do meu pai enquanto ele pesca no fundo do mar
    12. Let the Light In (ft. Father John Misty)/ deixe a luz entrar
    13. Margaret (ft. Bleachers)/Margaret
    14. Fishtail/Rabo de Peixe
    15. Peppers (ft. Tommy Genesis)/ Pimentas
    16. Taco Truck x VB/Caminhão de Taco x Cadela de Venice/Veneza
