Just now, gothphetamine said:Okay I’m an idiot and this has probably been asked before, for which I apologise, BUT…
What does it mean that some of the songs are tagged? And what’s with the AI bit?
Basically there’s an AI voice talking over the song.
SpoilerIn peppers, for example, there’s a whole AI voice exposing the person who leaked the songs

SpoilerExcited to hear peppers. From what is possible to hear from the tagged shit, it sounds like a nice song to listen while giving the most nasty b******

But even that “alternative” concept. I mean, it’s alternative until certain point, you know? It’s alternative but it’s still palatable/“sellable”.
it’s not like, idk, diamanda galas, you know?
(but still, that doesn’t means that lana isn’t good or that she’s just like, idk, miley cyrus or dula peep. Of course they’re different, but I do think that Lana is like in ther borderline from pop to alternative but still it’s commercial)

My whole algorithm is music related and I’ve found artists I love through TikTok that don’t fit the mold people are talking about. Yes it blasts certain (shitty) songs but at the end of the day it reflects the users preference. The commodification of music in general is causing the quality issue.
Exactly!
tiktok it’s just a more popular tumblr for the 2020’s kids/teens/young adults
tumblr did the same thing selling us an artist– that’s how lana (alongside others) got famous.
it’s shitty how capitalism transforms everything into a product (like, even food that it’s a basic human need, that grows for free in trees etc are being sold and you have to pay for it! Pay for something that you need to survive… that’s weird af)

Lana is pretty commercial tbh (love her tho)
but we shouldn’t fall for the narrative that she’s alternative and a underdog bc she is not

21 minutes ago, your dealer said:Personally, TikTok is a disease to the music industry. It's requiring songs to fit into a certain box or format in order to go viral so people can make more money. It's capitalism. People are literally making music now specifically so it can be used on TikTok instead of making music because it's good. Lana's music doesn't and never has fit into that box nor does she care to conform to it because she makes true art.
it’s not tiktok’s fault.
in the past people would say that the issue is on the radios too bc it shaped and shifted music– and television too.
the issue is the whole music industry and commodification of art like it’s just an object to be consumed (like you do with clothes, make-up, food etc)
tiktok just shows us that, but it’s not “their” fault– it’s just an app that works in the same way that the music *industry* (which is a really important word in here) works.
it’s sad and fucked up
SpoilerSo… tiktok it’s not the problem, it’s just a big store like cotsco or any other– they sell us songs, clothes and ideals of how we should act and behave.
tiktok may be symptomatic, but the problem is (and always was, as a lot of singers like kurt and bratmobile pointed out) capitalism.

leaks are bound to happen once they send the physicals out…
Yeah but like, it happens surprisingly soon and let’s not forget the black beauty, affa, hollywood etc situation
Her songs always leak really soon

SpoilerNothing honeymoon-esque. It’s just what blue banisters should’ve been.
and yes, it is REALLY disney-esque. Like, the orchestral sounds like it came directly from a disney movie

SpoilerIt’s more interesting but it’s different. I’m not gonna say I love it nor I hate it. I have to hear more– but I do feel like it’s really cool

SpoilerAm I the only one who thinks that Lana is playing more with the structures of the songs? I mean, they seem different… the melodies and stuff seems kinda untraditional, dont know how to explain
