this gives more insight and makes me understand a little better. as a fan though i also completely understand how much people miss and the diamonds because of just how attached to that era and time it is. it makes sense to why she did it, but of course, fans will miss it. i dont think may jailer - lizzy - lana has the same effect because no one really knew lana before she was lana

i still dont fully understand why she changed the name. but thats okay because its not mine to understand and i doubt id really understand it unless i had a similar experience i could relate it to, which i dont. but i agree that dropping "and the diamonds" had some sort of effect on her image/reputation, especially because of how established the name already was for her and MARINA in comparison is way less unique and memorable i think the history that surrounds and the diamonds also has something to do with it. when i think of MARINA, despite it being like 7 years since she changed it, theres not as much history or moments that stand out in relation to the name. like, marina and the diamonds is so reminiscent of her roots and beginnings as an indie artist on myspace. creating iconic moments like the ones ive and many others have personally tied to and the diamonds is harder to replicate with just marina

i definitely prefer princess of power. princess of pop is a little cliche and cheesy imo, but ive never really been one to judge or pay attention to album names unless it serves major significance to the project

i actually used to work on an old masterpost with spinmeround and another person in like 2023! we fell apart, but their masterpost is great really gives me a crave to actually continue working on a masterpost of my own, i have a few unfinished ones. probably would be mitski if anything

tbh i feel like a lot of marina songs that leaked got lost/stopped circulating. i remember on my old laptop i had this mix of jealousy that leaked in 2020 but wasnt included on the wiki or any masterposts i could find, actually i think i originally got it from here in a folder of "og files". then of course, the og files of a lot of older songs (troubled mind, this is la, philosopher my arse) just werent available online easily via the masterposts and such, i ended up finding them through olllddd tumblr accounts and asked a discord server for the og files of troubled mind and this is la at one point. and then i know someone who had to dig up leaked electra heart demos through the depths of old tumblr accounts too... i have no idea why this happens so much with marina specifically but god is it annoying. i was working on an old masterpost full of all the less common files i had gathered but gave up on it half way through and i no longer have any of them because i didnt transfer them to my new laptop. people just love to shorten her leaks then reupload them for whatever reason edit: been downloading that dbree link for like 5 minutes and its still not finished
