  1. Loving your guys' lists, and I have another (other than EMHHW bridge and last MM chorus). Maybe I'm less enthusiastic or I have a weird line between loving a part and anticipating it: Okay, in "Disco", at 2:24, when after "I am my only god" she just sort of mmms. It's great. I guess you could say most of my "moments" are real musical decisions, but that simple little moan is so perfect.
  2. I fucked your wife, she didn't mind (Sounds like something that would actually be in "Cola"...)
  3. So I'm not a real film connoisseur and I'm just loving that it's Halloween and all my favorites are playing. Hocus Pocus >>> everything else.
  4. I think anyone would be hurt if their looks were publicly scrutinized like hers are, so it's not entirely a female issue and maybe she was wrong in that. But do I think the addition of those three words really sets back any progression or feminist thinking? No. But is it not safe to say that girls' looks are bigger factors career-wise than boys' looks? Their looks are viewed more harshly, and beauty is more valued when it comes to women. So that's not uncommon ideals. Is she a progressive, individualistic thinker in that area? Obviously not. But again, I just don't see it as anti-feminist.
  5. Come on over, upper-middle-class baby.
  6. I've been re-reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky for like a month to get ready for the movie, but then the movie isn't coming to my podunk movie theater and I've had lots of school demands, so... Yeah. Short book, one month. I rock.
  7. But she told me and a room of hundreds of other people that she considered it better than BTD I don't like this "afterthought" classification because I think she did put some work into it, and as a musician she's always writing songs, it just so happens these were written in the nine months since her previous album, rather than over a period of three years like both AKA and BTD.

  9. Well we see a lot of Lana playing submissive and it's easy to argue for her anti-feminism with older lyrics like "you can be the boss", "I like it when you treat me mean", et cetera. But I think on this new album, while it is sexual, it's kind of the flip-side. In "Cola" and "Burning Desire", I get less kept woman than I have in the past and more aggressive femme fatale. Bad if you don't like sex, but nothing to really indicate an argument on feminism. Yet.
  10. Are you in Australia? Follow-up: Are you prepared to be harassed by the entire board if it's released there and doesn't leak before its release?
  11. 41. Elvis is the best, hell yes.
  12. Uh-oh, I think some hot and sexy moderator might have disabled his posting... Now let's drop it like it's hot in celebration of her Slovakian slayage.
  13. Now you agree to it! I actually do want to enlist you. Closer to the release, though, probably.

    Lana-isms

Wearing her quirky catch-phrases to death. Has anyone ever really stopped to look at the title "Gramma (Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven)"? Jesus Christ, Elizabeth, enough is enough! You know, I have a minute to kill, I'm going to make the whole AKA album with Gramma-esque titles. 1. Kill Kill (Florida Dark Surf Paradise) 2. Queen of the Gas Station (Neon Chevrolet Darling) 3. Oh Say Can You See (By the Dawn's Early Light?) 4. Gramma (Blue Ribbon Sparkler Trailer Heaven) 5. For K Part 2 (Rehab Daddy Issues) 6. Jump (Sonic Palm Tree Cocaine Heart) 7. Mermaid Motel (Miss America Gogo Dancer) 8. Raise Me Up (Mississippi South Pickup Truck Baby Doll) 9. Pawn Shop Blues (Hotel Jesus Meth) 10. Brite Lites (Jersey Dance Queen Lolita) 11. Put Me in a Movie (Little Girl Cinema Noir) 12. Smarty (Dope Criminal Pin-Up) 13. Yayo (Retro Boss Axl Rose Husband) That came way too easy.
