Completely agree; her/her label (mostly the latter) play it way, way, way too safe with single choices. Even Bounce or GNO, for example, may be too experimental by pop standards, yet they’d probably draw in a lot more attention just for standing out! I don’t understand why Atlantic won’t ever take a chance with Charli.

I feel like Charli's current brand of pop isn't concurrent with any of the trends (or up and coming trends) going on right now. It's a sound that the GP wouldn't understand and would see as just another shallow, basic pop act. For example, even with tropical house (arguably the "it" sound rn), it was very clear that it was about to blow up, but there's no sign of that happening with PC/hybrid pop besides Charli, and her label clearly isn't willing to invest in this era because like you said, they'd rather play it safe than take a risk. I'm pretty sure the only reason Atlantic even tried promoting Sucker was because of Boom Clap. It's all so fucked up, she'll never score a hit the size of Boom Clap with such mediocre singles, especially considering BC was on the soundtrack for TFIOS. Boys was a moderate success but not because it was a good song, because of all the cameos. Her label needs to fuck off tbh
That's probably healthier to believe but I'd like to believe we almost had the exchange songs (is she really releasing them if she goes through a twitter fanpage to leak them? lol)

Totally agree. Those songs (or so many others that we know about) would get way more attention and garner way more of a positive response than say... ATA did for example. I just have to believe it's Atlantic making these weird decisions, not Charli. Like, you can't just create some of the freshest and most innovative sounding songs in the last 10 years and then willingly choose ATA and Boys over all that.

Stargate is almost definitely involved with the leaked songs - however, it can be hard to tell just how involved they are when you look at a song like After The Afterparty, which is quite heavily Stargate-produced yet still features the slightest Sophie touch.

For example, Bounce is quite obviously the result of Sophie whereas The One I Die For, to me, is similar to ATAP in that it sounds almost entirely Stargate-produced with just a few signature Sophie sounds sprinkled throughout. I would’ve guessed that Can You Hear Me was entirely produced by Stargate, yet Sophie co-wrote it and therefore likely did some production on it as well. On the contrary, Girls’ Night Out and Good Girls are cases of Sophie using a more formal pop production.

As for BloodPop, I don’t really hear him in anything besides maybe Come To My Party? A lot of this is obviously my own speculation, of course!
