kitschesque Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 "The languor of Mazzy Star and downbeat skitter of Portishead meet the easy pop-rock breeze of Carole King on 1971’s Tapestry, or the searching resilience of Joni Mitchell on 1972’s For the Roses." Pitchfork really made me shiver with these!! So proud of her 7 Quote
Charlottexseax Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Actually red is for notes higher than 9 No the red (and the arrows) is for every score higher than 8 1 Quote

kitschesque Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 "Whatever it was that brought Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen together half a century ago, that middle ground is in the solemn mood, hollowed space, and spiritual fortitude of this haunting song" HOPE finally getting the recognition it deserves! 15 Quote
CatchTheBreeze Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Wow, the Pitchfork article really made me emotional. Lana finally entered the well guarded sacred music critics territory. 11 Quote
Charlottexseax Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Think it's actually for best new music? It's the same thing. Red circle, arrows and "best new music" are the same thing 0 Quote

takeitdoen Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 hey qween, girl you have done it again. Constantly raising the bar for us all, and doing it flawlessly. I'd say I'm surprised, but I know who you are - I've seen it up close and personal. Girl you make me so proud. And I love you. 17 Quote
American Bore Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 It's the same thing. Red circle, arrows and "best new music" are the same thing Yeah ik, was just saying that 'best new music' (red arrows, circle etc.) is independent of score. Like some albums will have a score of 8+ and not be considered 'best new music', think its only given on a weekly basis. 1 Quote

When they’re reviewing an old album, like for example I just read a Sonic Youth review, even if the score is high they don’t label it as best new album because it’s old If they’re reviewing an album as it comes out, and the score is high, they give it best new music status 0 Quote
