So I went and got an amazing spot. Queued for 8 hours whatever. NO MAC and NO CINNAMON. So much of the audience was dissapointed, we got like 12 Lana songs and way too many (4!!) non Lana songs during HER set. Dissapointed but the show was fun.

Forgetting lyrics on this level is not normal, unless you have some sort of underlying medical condition. I think it's more than laziness. It's pretty much self-sabotage. Everyone has noticed and is commenting on it.

 

She is frequently in a bad mood at shows.

 

She honestly looked drunk or high in the footage from yesterday's show.

 

I feel like something's going on, but who knows what it is.

Yeah, like ... Cinnamon is suddenly a "bad song" and now she's not singing that anymore ... MAC is gone, and when Byron suggested she sing it a few shows back, she said "I don't think so" ... every single time she sings NFR she tells us all that she's "changed her mind" or whatever ...

 

Some people have suggested that she doesn't sing particular songs (eg: ALL of Honeymoon, and some of NFR now, apparently) because they remind her of someone or something bad. I don't buy that, because she has performed UV (including "he hit me and it felt like a kiss") during this tour. Also, it isn't logical that she can't remember the lyrics to frickin' Carmen but she can somehow remember all of the bad people/situations that she associates all of Honeymoon with (for example) to the point that she cannot dissociate and just sing the fucking songs.

 

FIILY is, according to her, not even about her, so why isn't she singing that?

the thing is though is that because people are cheering and praising her so much, which yes i understand— i'm so tired of this setlist but when i see her in february, i'm going to cheer too because lana's my fav but nobody confronts her, her management suck and byron, someone she trusts a lot and has toured w her forever has such a negative attitude towards the setlist criticism? the people who are seeing her numerous times though they can do whatever (i like to live vicariously through them), its giving the wrong impression and probably makes lana think theres nothing wrong and she can get away with the boring setlist and lack of singing!

I genuinely don't think she's forgotten. I think it's just an excuse for her to avoid singing songs she no longer likes. Also, whenever she's forced to perform a song that isn't a part of the usual setlist she always makes some sort of commentary (for example when she sang Gods & Monsters in Berlin she said something along the lines of "what the f*ck was wrong with me when I wrote that?" Even when she sang Ultraviolence recently she said something similar after singing it. Like girl... we get you're a changed person and all but you can still sing your damn songs.

 

Also I agree she doesn't seem to enjoy touring anymore. She hasn't seemed truly present at her shows since the dancers joined her. It's how artists make the bulk of their $ so I can't blame her for milking it. Regardless she seems happy in her personal life which makes me happy as a fan.

And yes the dancers are really becoming too much of a distraction. It's so jarring to watch footage from 2019 & 2013. Such a difference. Not that her shows still don't have good qualities. But yeah...

We have a much bigger problem than the setlist. Her voice is dead. Apparently last night she said while singing shades of cool: I try to hit these falsetto notes with my vape voice. And then she tried to hit some high notes and couldn't hit so she teared up? Idk but it's just sad. She couldn't hit anything higher than g5 last year her voice was just shaky and awful after e5. I believe this year she only hit e5 and sometimes even missed that. I don't think we'll have those beautiful cola, mpg, heart shaped box notes ever again. Again it's just sad.

I didn't notice her tearing up but I only watched through Chuck's IG story live so I might've missed that. She did try to hit some high notes (just for fun?) after SoC though.

What? This is just sheer lunacy.

 

When you're at the point where you're admitting that you can't hit notes because you vape and it makes you cry at a live show ... the obvious solution is to stop fucking vaping?

 

Sinead O'Connor (I think?) recently went into a rehab facility because she said she'd been addicted to cigarettes since the age of 12 or something, and she wants to kick it. Like, Lanz can get help for this. She can afford the BEST help for this.

She's scared to sing her own songs because we know what they're supposed to sound like so if she messes up, people will notice. If she's doing someone else's song, it's far less pressure, because no one has heard her sing it before ...

RIGHT LMAOOOOOO like i'm not even against covers but..... the same cover every single night???? i like For Free, but it's really not an exciting song that i'd be particularly thrilled to hear live. yaaaaawwwwnnnnnnn

 

i also don't think that cover is gonna translate well at all when she comes to the UK for example - we don't do american folk music much over here so i think people will be very confused
