Randomly wanted to listen to this album! I love Perverts so I thought it wouldn't be bad to check out her acclaimed debut album. I understand this is a loaded album, and it's good to pay attention to the lyrics specifically, but I'm lowkey busy right now so forgive if I rank a song lower because I don't fully understand it. 

 

Here's my ranking;;

1. Family Tree (10/10) - I DID NOT EXPECT THIS VIBE!!!!! I love alt rock music, and the way Ethel does this track is amazing; I added it

2. Hard Times (10/10) - Another ten bruh, these songs hit so much; the subject matter is unfortunate to be honest; I added it

3. Thoroughfare (9.5/10) - This is vibe I love from Perverts, I'm glad it's within her debut album; I added it

4. Ptolemaea (9.5/10) - I heard this song from TikTok, and how it blew up, I love it within the context of the album too; I added it

5. Strangers (9.5/10) - The guitar solo towards the end of the song hittt; I added it

6. A House In Nebraska (9/10) - I love the country essence on this track and the album; I added it

7. Gibson Girl (9/10) - I love the sensual vibes in this track, the drums hit on this one; I added it

8. Western Nights (8.7/10) - I love the simplicity of this track ngl; I added it

9. Televangelism (8.6/10) - This is what I felt like was missing from the album so far, and I glad we got it! It's the Etienne of Preacher's Daughter ; I added it

10. August Underground (8/10) - Love this instrumental too, and her vocals in the background are nearly soothing, I mean it's still scary but yk I'm weird; I added it

11. Sun Bleached Flies (7/10) - Wasn't a bad track, just didn't care for it fully

12. American Teenager (6/10) - Heard everyone raving about this song, I thought it was going to be good, but I don't care for it; it feels like something is missing from it

13. Family Tree (Intro) (6/10) - Did nothing for me, it was a good intro for the album and storytelling, but yeah, I just don't care to listen to this again

Overall, I really love this album!! I didn't think it was going to top Perverts for me. Don't get me wrong though, Perverts had its flops and its moments, but Preacher's Daughter was back-to-back bangers to be honest. With a few exceptions of course. People were saying to listen to this album first then Perverts, but I'm glad I did the EP first because it made understand Ethel's vibe more. I got comfortable with the ambiance and lack of lyrics and just learned to relax. If I were to listen to this album first and then Perverts, I would've been tight that she gave us nothing. Either way, a really good album!! Don't think I'll go back to her previous projects and relisten to them. 8.6/10 album to be honest

That clip from her livestream being posted all over TikTok to the point where someone recognized her in person from that video is probably why she decided to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if she just doesn't interact with everyone. She's probably tired of people making all of these jokes and memes. I think she wants to be known more for her music and art rather than some clip on TikTok. It also doesn't help that her songs (and other things) have been leaked.

i dont think the meme has anything to do with her deactivating  she always talks about wanting to take a step back from the internet and this isnt the first time she deactivated her tumblr so shes probably just taking another break 😭

that probably factored into it, since someone saw her irl and made a tiktok quoting it, and all the comments were so mean and referencing her tumblr account, but it makes sense that she just took it as the final push to distance herself from social media, especially with how viral her tumblr has become, and with dollie also deleting all her socials, idk why everyone is trying to blame it on each other instead of just assuming she wanted to distance herself but ig it also does make sense.

i think she just decided to avoid social media, but she already only used the mothercain account as promo, so the fact she deleted that hurts 💔

ik some of yall were so annoying abt perverts being "different" but the b-sides are confirmed to have waco texas and dust bowl which means we are no doubt getting like an additional 4+ new songs that will match preachers daughters vibes and i think those songs will all end up as monumental, (and shes hinting at a whole tour around it) so the upcoming months with the ep release will be a wild ride for sure
