HEARTCORE 18,971 Posted March 10, 2014 Cannot understand all the hate for this song. I love it so much, it really ties Paradise and BtD together excellently.
LifeisBeautiful 152 Posted July 22, 2014 Love this song. It's actually a lot deeper than most people think, juxtaposed with Whitman's poem. I always viewed it as being about a sad woman, who obviously has lost someone, and is trying to find happiness ie. her soul through her physical body. I like how, in the beginning, the religious members of society (Mary) are praying for her because they believe that's the wrong way to live, but convert to the other side at the end. It's very dark and tragic but hopeful at the same time.
brooklynbaby91 1,385 Posted May 25, 2015 I see this song as Lana telling people what it's like inside her mind. She tells us her influences—Marilyn, Elvis, Whitman, Jesus, Monaco (the official lyrics in the booklet say Monaco), and the "we get down" part is what I interpret as Lana's creative process or how she copes with things. I agree with the poster who said this song is deeper than people think. These are the people she goes to for comfort, the people she uses to create art.
