#TimesUp -- Oprah Gives Galvanizing Speech @ Golden Globes

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. Oprah just gave a very powerful speech that went viral. I think you would all appreciate it. Oprah has an incredible way with her words

There is a hashtag on twitter #TimesUp.

"For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare speak the truth to the power of those men, but their time is up!"

OPRAH2020

#OPRAH2020

perhaps Oprah/Dana Gresham would be a perfect ticket

Lana is our modern day Edith Piaf. Totally unique. a mixture of Brian WIlson Roy Orbison, Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Elton & Bernie. Born to Die/Paradise is comparable to Elton's Captain Fantastic. All the records need to be listened whole. Waiting for a box set vinyl of all 400 songs not on any lp

the twitter hashtags take me back to november 2015 with the paris attacks. how long are we going to make twitter hashtags until something actually happens? something to actually think about

maybe that's why trump is always on twitter :rip:

For once I agree with you. People just want something to make a catchy hashtag over then abandon when the next one comes along, so they can feel like they did something.

However I do like the "time's up" logo, it actually means something, so I'd hate to see it just be a fad for the Golden Globes.

Oprah's speech was wonderful though it was very powerful. Idk about all this Oprah 2020 tho

I was just joking with mom "Oprah for president lololol" and hours later the TV news reported that people had been talking that she should be the democrat's next candidate. I felt like that octopus that picks up a card, predicting who will win the Olympics or something loool.

I'm not on any kind of train yet lol. But a broken clock is right twice a day

Anyways Oprah should not run in 2020. My opinion is that celebrities should not be running for president, only people with a background in politics. I know politicians can be sleazy, but that's better than someone who doesn't know how things should work. Trump is making a damn fool out of himself and it goes to show that public figures should stay out of elections.

trump is really only the first president to be considered a "public figure" before his presidency.

Nixon, Carter & Bush (imo) are far from public figures and served a vast amount of time in politics before coming president. to use trump out of 45 presidents to call on celebs not to run is silly. but I can agree celebs can make themselves look like fools in politics, lana included ;)

id like to see Oprah's overall take on her campaign. she seems similar to trump in the sense of speaking to the American people as a wholesome figure, but you know, the complete opposite

Reagan was an actor actually, a pretty big one too. That's beside the point though, his rise to presidency wasn't unlike normal politicians, he was a governor first and did his time unlike Trump who was just thrown in

I'm also interested in Oprah's take on a campaign, but like I said she doesn't really have a background in government (that I know of anyways) and I think that should be a requirement for presidency. If she eventually wants to get there, she should run for a smaller position first, maybe a governor position. If she's great at it, then she can go ahead and move up. I think that's reasonable. But she isn't a politician now, so we have no idea how she'd fare in office, just like we didn't know about Trump and now we know how big of a mistake it was. She's a smart woman and she has potential to be a good president but I don't think 2020 is the right time.

Oh, I didn't realize that's what you were doing. I really only know the worst things about Reagan's time but every presidency is a mixed bag so I can't really have an opinion on him yet.

Anyways I think we can both agree on how phony all this faux-woke shit is, they talked a good game at the Golden Globes but "wearing black to protest" is a crock of bullshit and until there is actual action taken, it's just rich people being slacktivists
