the dissertations we'll get tomorrow after your first listen - i'm seated

okay so not gonna lie, i'm actually very scared (and excited) to listen to it tomorrow :bebe:

i already had low expectations because i thought that we're getting more of a lowkey song but turns out it's a different song and people have been praising it and comparing to many many different songs which also means that anyone can have a different interpretations on the production.

many people have been comparing it to ocean blvd title track but while i really love it now, it was really hard for me to get into it at the beginning when it was released. like i was beautiful but like had no replay value for me, i had different expectations on this song after i read many positive reviews about it. the song totally clicked with me only almost a year after its release.

the thing is that i love orchestral music and i love those big score ones you hear on epic movies or even on lana songs produced by dan heath. i've been conflicted about drew erickson's orchestral production because imo his strings on her songs like ocean blvd, fingertips, violets for roses and even beautiful sound bit lowkey to me, even if i really love some of these songs. like they're not loud.

and i'm scared that this happens w henry that it will not meet my expectations.

although i fucking loved let the light in and candy necklace and drew erickson was a co-producers in those songs. and i have seen let the light in comparisons as well. i hope that my first reaction is similar to let the light in's. i have been listening to this song a lot as well lately.

lyrics are amazing though, read them on genius. even though they're not wordy, i get kintsugi, ocean blvd and fingertips vibes from them. one of her best songs written.

I would compare Drew's strings at most with in Thunder or Fingertips, I bet you'll like them

You honestly have nothing to worry about. The melody is great, the production is great, the harp is great, the strings are great. Ocean Boulevard (the song) was a bit sad and morose. The string-work is kind of similar here (grandiose), but the song is so much more uplifting and likable on a first listen. And as much as I like Let the Light In, this is bigger song for Lana. Her most uplifting single as a solo artist since Love and Lust for Life, probably. Perfect for playing on a joyride to the Grand Canyon or sth.

People calling this song uplifting and happier than ocean confuse me are we listening to the same song? :bebe:

Henry is leaving, and while she’s not sitting on a sofa feeling suicidal she certainly isn’t happy

”I’ll still be nice to your mom, it’s not her fault you’re leaving” is so bitter/angry and then “you can’t chase a ghost when it’s gone” is very depressing

Well No. It's officially out as of 8 AM in New Zealand, for example
