I'm going to listen to Henry Come On for the first time now. I really hope I like it. 

 

Before I'm going to listen to it, I got emotional thinking how it has been so long since she shared that snippet 1 year and almost 3 months ago - in January 2024. I still remember that day clearly when she posted that snippet in the morning and I was really busy. 

 

But the thing what gets me emotional is that how many things have happened since, so many unexpected changes have happened which I well...didn't expect. Back then when she posted it, I was somewhere torn between hopelessness and excitement because there were so many things and events I was looking for, which kind of gave me reason to live but at the same time I was under a lot of stress and I was stuck and confused with my life - and it made me really unhappy then.

 

Now...I feel a lot more calm and perhaps hopeful but like...the excitement and spark is gone. I really hope that Henry Come On will offer that spark and excitement which I really miss. Yet still I haven't understood if I have moved on with my life or still haven't moved on, still stuck in that time, longing for that time. I really hope that Henry Come On will answer me to those questions as well.

 

Enough with those long dissertations, I'm going to listen to the demo snippet on Instagram and then hop over to YouTube and listen to the new song in full. Can't wait, I really hope I love it. If I only knew back then when the snippet was released that I am going to listen to the full song on my brand new phone. Don't know when I'll come back here and write my thoughts but I will at some point today.

As someone both into the White Lotus and Lana, I feel like fandoms have been so annoying lately (mostly on tik tok, this forum is still enjoyable and doesn't hinder the experience). It's a weird combination of short attention spam + not being open to any change + lack of critical thinking. Everybody is expecting bombastic things from singers/shows that have historically made subtle and prestige stuff. This song does sound different from the past four records, but, even if it didn't, Lana's music isn't really about the production. As a amateur musician I always just loved her songs because you can cover them with literally just vocals and the piano chords and they sound beautiful. She's a songwriter. She's not Arca. I feel like if Video Games was released today people would be calling it a snoozefest 😭

like what if she doesn't wanna even be thru that already you know? maybe cus I just personally value independence relationship or not but like damn, i'm sure some already know how well, hard it can be to see things thru in these things to just be betrayed or let down after all that patience. like what do you do with that ideal of devotion u know? 

I'm just rationalizing and fortelling that this'll just make the notion that she moved past that as the song alludes to, but also, to contribute towards how much sweeter it'll be or is when the right person does stay. like damn it can really pain someone to have all that care backfire and actually be weaponized towards you bc they actually hate themselves to that extent whew that's complex. like to reconcile those feelings can be intricate to undo.

always remember it's a privilege to be able to talk shit about things u might not understand or appreciate, but also, and more importantly, that it's even more of a privilege to grasp and understand something, even if just the process, and being able to connect w the music. that's real beautiful

so basically it might just be lost on them and it's not our problem

Well Reddit seems to hate it, but I’m not surprised. Someone even said it sounds like a Taylor Swift song  .  

Most of the TikTok crowd isn’t the type to appreciate a song for its instrumentation and artistry - their loss.

I haven't posted on here in forever, but I just wanted to come on and say I absolutely love this song. I had very low expectations coming in that were blown out of the water. Henry is intimate, nostalgic, and melancholic. The chorus is memorable. I'm shocked people are calling it boring when it has such beautiful instrumentals. I also don't understand the comments about it sounding like BB? I am not a fan of that album and I think this sounds like a far more developed and interesting song.

 

I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
