I love her voice, but I don't love the musical direction she's going in for most parts of her album. Very bland in my opinion. Obviously not counting "God is a woman" and "No tears left to cry", because those are amazing. I loved her first album throwback r&b/pop sound a lot better.

People shouldn't complain about it in the first place. It's not like Melanie experienced most things she sings about on Cry baby (getting kidnapped on tag you're it comes to mind). That's just fine, because not everything an artist sings is to be taken so literal.

Not even a studio version of Emotional Machine yet . Like it would probably have been smart to release it to create some buzz.
