I didn't say what I said to somehow prove Lana isn't popular/relevant/succesful. I'm aware she's an album girl and I was only saying that the songs, compared to previous Lana singles and pop music in general, didn't do well. It has nothing to do about her albums, or the fact that she's "indie" which she's not, or anything else for that matter.

I honestly don’t believe the reason AKA was shelved for 2 years was due to label issues. If you take into account that Lana probably had most of the songs by 2007 which is when she signed her multi-record deal with 5 Points then I think it’s safe to assume David Nichtern would have heard a sizeable chunk of the album’s rough ideas already. So signing her having heard her music with no plans on letting her release it 1 year later seems very unlikely to me.

It’s kinda sad that we have to jump through hoops just to find information any other artist would directly present to their fans

Honestly White Mustang feels like a whole ride. In just 2 minutes she manages to transition from a small piano driven song into a fully produced song with beats and whistles and everything and ends on a loud note. I thought it was very unexpected when it first came out

It probably is a metaphor but the line “how it gave you everything and took your life away” can very easily be interpreted in a literal way. For some reason I only interpret that literally
