I find Britney to be a very interesting pop culture figure- the universe is obsessed with her regardless of whether you like her or not, she’s miss “American teen whore and sweet virginal blonde” she’s someone’s who has routes in Lolita, Marilyn Monroe and Janet Jackson. Her influence on pop and a lot of pop leaning or pop alternative singers is huge aswell. She created a big shift arguably with how mental health is portrayed and i honestly believe films like sucker punch would not exist without her existence. it’s so odd how one person can be such a thinkpiece brought to life.

You can still use a song to build a bigger story and there’s tons of references to heaven and angels within the album itself.

Doesn’t mean she could not of repurposed it-it was wrote in 2010-she’s had tons of projects she’s scrapped or used in other works-at one point after true romance she was meant to make a Bollywood infused album.

I know this is random and I’m obsessing over True Romance but we all agree it’s a story concept album right? It begins with her and a boyfriend in a car crash(they had a rocky relationship up until this point recently) with the nuclear seasons intro/only she dies with the boyfriend being alive and then she reminisces about her relationship with her boyfriend whilst being stuck in the midst of heaven and purgatory through the middle songs-midway through she falls through the clouds with grins and is firmly in purgatory as she clings to the relationship-with the dirty angels as seen in black roses-with lock you up the paramedics revive her and she now knows that she truly loves him and that although “tomorrow isn’t a guarantee” she will forever love him.

Honestly what the person above wrote rings very true for me, but I disagree with people saying my dislike is to do with her no longer doing the subject matter of sugar daddies, Lolita characters and femme fatales. I felt she truly changed music between her debut and honeymoon,she mixed her flair with retro music aswell as hip hop beats/psychedelic guitars and recounted her past experiences prior to fame with honesty. I do not see honesty in her recent albums and she is as out of touch as ever-LA has left her with no new experiences to recount through songs and she doesn’t play with vocals in the same way-it’s all one whispery pleasant breath. I’m also not fond of the production I know it’s subjective but just feels flat to me-I wish she would experiment more like how it felt with Dan.

Not saying I don’t love some of her new songs here and there but album wise isn’t the same for me.
