    I never saw the 80s associated with psychedelic rock, the 80s were more synth pop and glam metal whereas psychedelic rock was more 60s. Also, idk about a synth pop record, just wanted to edit lol

    uv was very unmistakenly 70s with a subtle 90s influence which also reflected in her clothing during the writing of the album, as she wore tons of flannel shirts,flares,backwards hats and black.

    I think bounce could smash if they updated the production a bit with more modern beats mixed with more pc sounds and less dubstep breakdowns because although I love it as it is, it sounds very 2015.

    I can see why Sky might like ONE, and loathe 17 and Obsession. One actually has some interesting lyrical ideas and quite quirky production wise. The other 2 songs are pretty garbage edgy!!! teen nonsense which she clearly didn't relate to.

     

    17 is the most like her recent work out of all of them though

    Obsession and and the as if ep are garbage though

    Decent? Boys has a range of like 4 notes for the majority of the song, so it'd be hard to not sound decent, especially when the mic is autotuned (it sounded like it was). I think Camila uses a tuned mic as well (from the couple TV performances I've seen), but Camila actually keeps a consistent tone, which Charli doesn't. It's super obvious when you listen to the background vocals compared to her dull husky tone live. I saw a vocal coach video where the coach said that it's common for people with vocal damage to pull their larynx down because it's hard for them to keep their voice stable otherwise. I feel like that might be what's going on with the dull tone. And then when she goes higher her voice starts to sound really hoarse and dry. Just listen to what her voice does when she screams at the audience in concerts: it has a gravel-y crackled quality to it.

     

    But I feel like the sound engineers also need to make the mic more sensitive in some cases, so she doesn't have to sacrifice tonal quality in order to project. The other day, I think I figured out why Boom Clap sounds bad live (save for a couple performances). In the studio, she's singing breathy and soft in the verses, but everything sounds rather level because that's how studio mics work. But when she performs it on a tv show or in a stadium or whatever, it's hard for the mic to account for the change in volume from the verses to the chorus; the mic isn't on a sensitive enough setting to pick up low levels of sound, so she has to sing in a different part of her voice to not be drowned out by the instrumental.

     

    Just my theories

     

    I think it can also be the environment, I have a range but have a weak sound output so If I were to record something I'd probs do it within a closed space where the sound reverberates which I'm assuming she does as her voice is quite weak.Also agree that there's been a lot of damage although like I said its been damaged since sucker and it's only going to get worse because she's very lazy with her vocals and doesn't see it as an important part of her performance.

    Well that was painful to listen to. Especially 2:36, that's not even a high note for her voice. She used to be able to hit notes like that with no problem. I wish she'd stop screaming at parties. It doesn't help that she's had laryngitis and other throat/sickness problems in the past year or so. Does anyone else remember when she had to go on vocal rest (I think it was around the time of the nylon japan set), and that clip of her gargling water before going on stage?

    this is actually decent for her voice she had worse mic feeds through some of the sucker era her voice has been on and off since after true romance tbh

    Tbh this song has kinda proved to me that charli should move on from these party songs now, they were fun and still are but this is the longest she's stuck to a sound I kinda want her to experiment again gno is still cool though.

    The hypocrisy that people in this thread wanted xcx3 to leak aka her upcoming album but are targeting someone for flacs of songs that everyone who can manage to support her with money will stream or buy anyway.

    BIG TEAAA!!!

    but I love BTR at the club tho and its kinda catchy btw i think Famous is one of her best songs

    lmao I'd argue break the rules isn't as stupid as some of the stuff she sings now good girls is one of my favourite songs from the leaked xcx3 but acting like it subverts gender expectations or has any important message is hilarious.

    Um it's not just about the eyes, it's also a about the ears. The video should complement the song rather than try to supplement it. The video just doesn't "fit" the song. Same with 'Freak'.

    freak deserved better it matched with the footage from the album trailer though so maybe she should have gotten the uv video to be edited better and to film more scenes for it.
