I didn't realise someone had basically said what I was trying to say before me, so I just wanna say props to you, I agree 100%!

I wanna bold this entire post! But I'll have to keep it strict.

Yes actually simplistic is how they feel to me too. And I'm never a fan of the social media references and references of "the culture", being "lit" (even in thunder, the "lit" lyric is the one thing I don't like). Basically her past lyrics felt really rich with stimulus- visual and emotional, even mental in some songs, particularly unreleased. There's no way I could relate to living the fast life in cars drinking with old men, but I felt it because she expressed it well. Even the slower life described in honeymoon was so rich. Now everything seems like a bland description of nothing much. I hate to say it, really. Omg I'm never gonna unhear the Arcadia Wiggles description.

Please don't attack me for this but I don't understand what anyone means when they say her lyrical style has improved. To me, it "seems" more mature because she's referencing different things now and writing in a different formula, but to me that's not an improvement. That's just a change. I actually have more trouble getting the real meaning of her songs than I did from AKA to Honeymoon. Ever since LFL it seems like she is trying to put in more meaning but everything comes off as vague and so unspecific, like "only God knows what I mean" or "only the true stans will get it" and I'm honestly not into that. I think she has more trouble expressing what she's trying to say than she ever has. I think this is also why out of the 4 new songs I like WFWF the most because it's more of an expression of emotions and what has happened to her, no speculation or wondering what the significance is supposed to be. I'm not expecting anyone else to agree. Edit: when I say these criticisms I'm actually glad that it seems most people are much happier with the current music, because it honestly feels like I'm missing out!

It's like she wants to move on and become a higher person filled with love but she's still bitter- hence, threw in that little bit at the end. I have a feeling any reference to the criticism on this album will be similar- just little bits of "fuck you" here and there. I personally hope they don't stand out because even though she said it would be addressed on this album, I'm so far over it by now. Edit: with the supposed tracklist, nothing could ruin it imo

I love everything about it. Especially the interlude.

Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
Ultra Violet replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
In her insta caption, something small has grabbed my attention: "... by the time the record drops you will hear where we're at today." Is this album about her and her family and/or partners? Or is she refering to herself and her past self/selves as we? -
I didn't think of that! That would be cool

I'm happy for her, but I don't have to suddenly forget about the mess she made. You can acknowledge the shit she's done and still vouch for her happiness and peace I want to know more of her story and I think she's going to tell it better this time without comparing herself to others, you know, like the way she used to.
