I actually like that line a lot. For all I know it could be a Lana lyric. It is pretty childish or youthful though, like it reminds me of Big Bad Wolf "cherry red car" "you took all the apples that I had". Come to think off it, the apples line is extremely Melanie-like

Cooties is a really nice song but I'm sorry I just can't take "don't you wanna catch my cooties" seriously And yes, before you ask, I do take all of her other lyrics using childhood themes as metaphors seriously

From what I take in, Lana sings far more about other people's drug use than her own, which I think a lot of people don't recognize, including the critics and fans that think it makes them extra edgy for listening to her songs about doing drugs when they were 13. (Also I'm not talking about alcohol here) The songs where she really sings about herself doing drugs are only referencing weed in HBTB, Brooklyn Baby, BTD, etc. Florida Kilos is the exception but maybe that's the reason it's only on the deluxe release. I think Lanas reference to drugs is predominantly to do with her relationships and how she has seen it through with people even when they've clearly got these problems. I might be missing tonnes of reference but from what I find important in her music, only like 2% of that is drugs. So what I'm trying to say is, when people say that all she wants to sing about is drugs, I think they have spent an extremely limited amount of time listening to her and understanding her lyrics.

Yes! I loved the rollout of FROOT. And as it was the first album release after I became a fan in 2013, it really showed me how engaging and artistic she was. Now I'm hands down believing that Ancient Dreams won't top it, but I am still loving the reminiscence. I really hope we get more personal tracks that aren't as basic as most in L+F

Yes!! Redeeming herself from all that would require a complete change of character, and even tho I have pointed that out + which of her friends could help her do that, I think it's too much to ask of someone, especially if they're 35. I don't wanna be that "stay in your lane girl" person, but she thrives in her niche. It's honestly what is best for her, and the place where no one can topple her down.

FROOT was so iconic idk if I just miss all the 2015 releases so much (like Honeymoon and Art Angels too), or if it really was that good to everyone else. I think all the 2015 releases really brightened up my life when I needed it. I love the colour this era has in it maybe for that reason. I hope this is her best era but I am not sure if she can top FROOT or the groundbreaking EH tbh, especially with lyrics that are more risky in these times.

This is the best video I've seen about this [qtfc]. Actually giving facts, no "tea", no swaying by opinions, just amazing research and a very levelled delivery of it. Also the start of the video was very good. I was largely unaware of the criticism lana went through before 2015, as I wasn't following a lot of media output, nor was I on any forum pages. Now hearing the worst of them read out ..the opinions about her that some people felt the need to express are just disgusting and scream misogyny. They weren't thought through at all, it was just plain bashing.

The first time she performed Ultraviolence. https://youtu.be/Tnggj3gpjDE As this was a couple of weeks or so (?) before the album dropped, I had this downloaded on my phone and would listen on repeat. Because of that, I always thought the way she sung it at this show was the way it was supposed to be sung. To me I hear more desperation and emotion. It was just such an amazing time, a hard time for me for sure, but this performance honestly saved me. West Coast was a hell of a first single (her best imo), but this was the time that I realised how dark and raw with emotion the Ultraviolence album was going to be.

Ahh so happy that you're discovering them! Some of the demos I like lots better like pretty much all the Lolita demos and Diet Mountain Dew demos. I should do the same and go back to them. I'm feeling so nostalgic for old lana days.

I don't think it's about upbeat and pop vs mellow. Honeymoon is that album that some people said put them to sleep, but nothing since then has been crafted so well. When someone is saying they miss pre- lust for life Lana, I think they mean the energy that the entire albums exuded, not just the hit tracks and fan favourites.

Literally I'm so sorry to be spamming your notifs with another reply but I just wanna say I hear you and im sorry that the song is completely awful for you. Just because most of the lines don't hit everyone personally, it doesn't mean we have to bash people's opinions of something really personal to them or try to silence them, like some just did. I like the song but I'm always open to hearing why people don't like it, expecially if it's in more detail than just "I hate sjws". Judging by the song titles I think we'll get more of a variety of stuff, and songs that can actually be empowering to all, so I hope this hasn't permanently ruined your stance on her music
