Absolutely underrated! It's my fave from the Sketches album, the lyrics are a masterpiece <3

That was a great performance, he never fails to impress me. Have you noticed that this particular recording Jeff sounds more...depressed? Espcially compared to Sine-é back in the early 90's. Idk, maybe it's just me..but I feel like he knew his time was coming.. Absolutely! Have you heard 'Mama, You Been On My Mind'? It's my favourite Dylan cover he did, it's so good! <3

I've seen many suggestions on here that lean towards pop artists so I thought I'd suggest someone a little different. I mentioned the musician Jeff Buckley in a forum and I just thought that perhaps maybe some of you guys might like his stuff. He's an incredible singer and Lana herself is also a fan. I have been a fan of his work for many years now and I've never looked back. I'm always glad I found out about him (although to be honest, I wasn't too keen on him at first) but after a few more listens, I became obsessed. I think I'd suggest his cover of 'The Other Woman' first since that is also a song Lana covered so you guys already know how that one goes. I find his version to be more clearer and not so muffled like Lana's but I love them both dearly. Other songs: Hallelujah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIF4_Sm-rgQ Last Goodbye https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MMXjunSx80
  6. Does anyone think her new album will feature a collab? I think she should do a collab with: 1. Father John Misty 2. Hope Sandoval (from Mazzy Star) 3. Elizabeth Fraser (of Cocteau Twins) 4. Marina and the Diamonds (c'mon, were ALL dying for this) 5. Bob Dylan 6. Alice Cooper
  7. My worst fear is that it'll be incredibly commercial and pop-y. It's a personal opinion as I'm not too hardcore into that genre. I am seriously dying for a surf/70's soft rock-pop vibe.
  8. In a performance she did at l'Olympia she mentioned how she felt honored because Jeff Buckley and Edith Piaf played there (can't remember where I saw it), so she's def a fan. And on Jeff's Wiki page (yeah, I know, it's not reliable) if you go on the 'tributes' section, you'll see Lana's name and the description. I would send a screenshot to make it easier but I'm on my phone and I'm lazy.

  11. Tbh a part of me doesn't want LDR5 to be commercial and get radio play. I kinda like how Lana is a low key kinda pop artist...but I wouldn't be bothered if she got radio play either. Just mixed feelings. But yeah. I want the colours to be a faded blue and yellow colour, idk why. I actually saw a legit still from her new music video (I won't post it and please don't message me for it) but I don't think in this era she'll have blonde hair...sorry guys. But overall I definitely see a 70s vibe going on, I see flowers (like 60s/70s flower power movement thing). Key words that pop up in my mind are 'freedom land' 'daisies' (someone on here posted about how each album had a significant flower, I think a daisy will be for LDR5), 'girls', 'ice cream', 'drugs' etc. I'm getting a very summery vibe guys and I'm honestly so excited.
  12. Does anyone else think Lana's album cover will feature her in a car? Look at BTD, UV and Honeymoon, all album covers feature a car. Random thought but yah...
  13. Quick note: Compared to her previous albums, Honeymoon was quite different. More slower, more elegant, more down to earth and real. I get how some fans don't really like it, and that's cool. But I think it had a real aura of opulence to it. SOUND: Obviously it's slower and less commercial, but I think it was insanely beautiful in many ways. The string arrangements were superb and cinematic and her voice soared like an angel over the muffled 'hip hop' beats. Her voice really reached great lengths, especially in 'Honeymoon' and 'God Knows I Tried'. Although the album isn't my favourite, I can appreciate the work that was put into the whole production process. LYRICS: The album wasn't lyrically as strong her previous albums and I found many words to be too repetitive however there weren't bad lyrics. Just meh. You can't really visualise a story with the lyrics and I think it lacks memorable lines. AESTHETIC/VISUALS: The aesthetic was very clear. It was elegant and bright. Red, blue and white. Very patriotic to me. When I listen to this album, I picture two lovers travelling across the country, wild in love. However towards the end of the album it feels as if these two lovers are drifting apart and Lana is yet again on her own, yearning a lost love. But it makes it more cinematic, I think. The photography for this album was okay. It wasn't the best. The album cover colours were vibrant however I felt there was too much text and it kinda ruined the picture. I adore the picture of Lana on the back of the album, though. But I think more could have been done to bring the era to life. COMMERICAL SUCCESS: I think overall the album was a let down in regards to promotion but then again, it's not a commercial sounding album so that's kinda expected. It didn't do as well, let's be honest. I think the album suits an acquired taste. I'm sad she didn't do a Honeymoon world tour, I think so many amazing visuals could have been thrown in there. It could have been like a movie, filming all the concerts and release it on DVD or something, idk. FINAL THOUGHT: Although it's not my favourite album and era, I can greatly appreciate the work that has been put into it. It's beautiful, dreamy and romantic. I don't really listen to it that much but it'll always have a special place in my heart.
  14. I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and this one is truly beautiful. I think Lana could do a real good job with this one. The album version of this song has a nice string arrangement so I wouldn't say it's too far from Lana's sound. ❤️
  15. Guns and Roses sounds like a song a simple girl can make in her own bedroom on the GarageBand app.
  16. I'm dying to know what theme/colours/aesthetics she's gonna go for this time.
  17. List of songs I think she should cover (keep in mind, she'll probably sing these songs in her own style): Zombie - The Cranberries Lover, You Should've Come Over - Jeff Buckley Doll Parts - Hole These Boots Are Made For Walking - Nancy Sinatra In Dreams - Roy Orbinson Valerie - Amy Winehouse Don't Speak - No Doubt Beautiful - The Smashing Pumpkins You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore Dreamer's Bay - Patience and Prudence Every time - Britney Spears Lucky - Britney Spears
  18. I do get what you mean. I think she needs to stay clear of old timey songs unless they're very vibrant in sound and not so dreary. I think she should try covering 90s songs tbh.
  19. Lana HAS to cover a Jeff Buckley song. She's a fan of his work and he has great songs that I think her voice will suit very nicely. Search 'Lilac Wine' and 'Lover, You Should've Come Over'. FUN FACT: Lana named the song 'Gods and Monsters' after the band that Jeff Buckley used to be in.
