Lana Del Rey Reveals Details About "Spiritual" New Album
trailerparkdarling- replied to TIARNZUS's topic in Latest News
I completely agree. Not that I can't understand why some people dislike it, but then I think that's the thing about being a part of a Lana community, it's like any community in that everyone will have hugely differing opinions. BUT, I adore Body Electric. Granted it's very repetitive, but I've loved it ever since the first time I heard it. I also thought it was beautifully done live on Sunday night. It was one of my favourite performances of the night, and I think it made more of an impact live when you're in that arena with the lighting effects, etc. -
This looks like it's going to be a great article! I think Lana looks gorgeous as ever

This song is really beautiful. The combination of their voices works so perfectly together, and the video is the cutest thing in the world. I like that Lana still falls back on her idea of vintage footage, and it works so beautifully in this video. Aside from it being a gorgeous summery song, I love seeing her look so truly happy.

I really love what I've seen of the Dreamland photoshoot. I think that when Chuck photographs Lana it always looks amazing, because she seems to so perfectly capture the vision Lana wants to create. Maybe it's a sibling thing. I just wanna see more!

Lana Del Rey Covers Leonard Cohen's "Chelsea Hotel No. 2"

I cannot cope with how perfect this is!! -
I can't believe I forgot to mention Video Games. It was the first Lana song I ever heard, and when I first heard it, I wasn't entirely sure what the appeal was. But listening to it on a more frequent basis, it has become one of my favourites. One thing I love about Lana is her idea of honouring lost love. I'm a huge believer in still caring for and respecting someone you loved who you aren't with anymore, and I feel like this song is the epitome of that. She turns the simplest of things (getting undressed, playing video games, etc) into this simple love melody. As well as all the big things in life, I like to remember details, no matter how mundane they are, and I think people forget how much happiness can be had from just simply sitting around all day playing video games with the person you love most in the world. To me, the simplicity sold it to me. It's quite a stripped song, compared to most others on BTD, but I love that. You can hear the haunting sadness at the same time as understanding her love for this person. I just feel a really strong connection with it, and of course, it was the gateway into my Lana Del Rey obsession.

This is so perfect, I think this is my new favourite shoot for sure!! I love the photo of Lana wearing the black veil -
It's crazy, me and my best friend were just discussing this yesterday and we were saying how impossible it is. But I'll give it a go! Pawn Shop Blues- I think if I was only ever allowed to listen to one Lana song, it would be this. It's sad and beautiful and I think it's one of Lana's best lyrical creations. I connect so much with the lyrics and they got me through a time of my life where I gave up someone I loved. The whole song just gives me shivers, it is beyond perfect in my opinion. Trash Magic- This is almost the opposite of what I just said about PSB, because it doesn't really consist of many lyrics, but I adore this song. I love the feel of it, the almost sadness in her voice. It is beautiful. Marilyn Monroe- I love Lana's fascination with Marilyn, I love the lyrics, I love the upbeat feel. It's catchy and lovely. Raise Me Up- This song is another masterpiece. It just is. Junky Pride- I love Lana singing acoustically, and I love this song in particular because the lyrics are so beautiful. It's gentle and honest and I just really think you can see both her strength and vulnerability through this song. Honorable mentions: Yayo, Dark Paradise, Body Electric, For K part 1, Dangerous Girl, Motel 6, Prom Song, Summertime Sadness.

Lana living in the UK thoughts?
trailerparkdarling- replied to PennCentralFan's topic in Lana Thoughts
I live right on the outskirts of London and have a very boring, entirely uninteresting key. I need to get involved in this unique keys thing, I'm completely oblivious! -
I so agree. It's such a good song.
-
I always thought it was 'I pray your life is sweet, you fucker', but I could be wrong.
-
I also have no idea what all the terminology means, but it's a really interesting thread because since hearing Lana's unreleased stuff I have been fascinated with her amazing vocal range. I was utterly shocked by 'Sirens' because it's so different from the sort of smoky voice of BTD and Paradise.

Lana living in the UK thoughts?

No problem at all I've never been to America myself, but I honestly think it is a fantastic and fascinating country and I would love to visit it some day. I don't think it's bad at all, I just think one person is misrepresenting it and doing an injustice to the rest of the level headed Americans who support Lana's choice to move to the UK, despite it meaning she'll move further from them. Haha, England is a lovely place, I'm glad you liked it here -

Don't worry, I don't think the majority of us here generalize We completely understand that it's the (incorrect and ignorant) view of one person, not all Americans -

Lana living in the UK thoughts?
trailerparkdarling- replied to PennCentralFan's topic in Lana Thoughts
I'm pretty sure that not every single British musician was 'inspired' by America. America is unquestionably a wonderful place, but it doesn't detract from the individuality of British artists. A lot of them were probably inspired by things other than America. Please stop suggesting that everything about the UK is directly related to America, because people here can stand on their own two feet and make their own music inspired by a huge variety of things. -
Lana living in the UK thoughts?

I'm gonna have to stick up for my country here. The UK is an amazing place to live. Especially London. If you've ever been to central London, you will know what a magical, inspiring place it is to be. It's full of different cultures and ways of life, full of opportunities and full of beauty. I have no idea about Lana's personal reasons for moving to the UK, but I certainly don't think her career will suffer for it in the slightest. The UK has produced a lot of amazing musicians, as someone mentioned above, so I don't think it's fair to write it off just because it's not America. Lana obviously sees something in living here, she envisions some new life experiences or some new influences on her music, or something to that effect. London is a truly breathtaking place, and I think Lana will flourish here. -
I feel like this could well be the longest reply I have ever written because there are so many Lana things I love in so many of her songs. - I love pretty much every single lyrics in 'Pawn Shop Blues', but especially the line; In the name of higher consciousness, I let the best man I knew go. It's my favourite song, the tone and the lyrics just match so well, and I must have listened to it a thousand times when I broke up with my boyfriend. - I love the way she sings 'Think I'll miss you forever' is Summertime Sadness - The little laugh in Motel 6 when she says 'Baby you can buy me Diet Mountain Dew and we'll get right down to it, me and you' - The beginning of Dark Paradise; All my friends tell me I should move on, I'm lying in the ocean singing your song. - Body Electric gives me shivers. I don't know what about it does, but it just does. - For K makes me want to cry. It's beautiful and sad and I can't control my emotions when I listen to it. Especially the lyrics 'Is this what you wished? Did you wanna die?' - The lyrics I know I wanted all this in the beginning, I really tried, I know I caught you at a not so happy time of your life in Junky Pride. - The 'ray-ray's' in Raise Me Up, especially those at the end. - The feel of 'Trash Magic'. I don't know how else to explain it. Just the quiet, haunting, simplicity of it. - Video Games. It took me quite a long time to like this song, but now I adore it. I love her ability to turn the simple action of playing video games with someone you love into a song. - Yayo. That song just defeats me. Hello heaven, you are a tunnel lined with yellow lights on a dark night.
-
I've been looking for the '7-Eleven' part of the lyrics for ages, so I'm really glad I found it! I love this song so much, it's definitely one of my very favourites, although for the life of me I couldn't tell you why! I love the way she says 'baby you can buy me Diet Mountain Dew and we'll get right down to it, me and you'.

I personally heard 'blue oyster clove' while listening to it, although in my mind Blue Oyster Cult makes more sense. I just don't hear the 'u' sound.
