Rob confirmed that the Gramma mentioned in this song is named Cynthia not Madeline (Lana's "m" tattoo). IDK if she is Rob or Pat's mother. Not sure how relevant this is, but thought it was interesting.
its honestly so cute when rob refers to lana's songs in his tweets aw

@@SitarHero sry to bug you again but could you please post the artwork for Star Spangled Danger? the link a few pages back is dead now. thank you!
-
I always thought this was a happy song but I just listened to it for the umpteenth time and realised how sad & lonesome it actually is
-
^^ I know there is a song called "I got burned" by The Bamboos? Is that the song you meant?
If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down
it's lana songs only

Producers: anything but Haynie, his work on BtD was fantastic but WfL made me realise how stale it would feel he did the next album in the same style. bringing Auerbach back (lol) could be pretty decent.
Genre: i'd ideally like the "surf noir" of LDR to return, but that's pretty unlikely to happen so maybe soft jazz like Pin Up Galore or the downtown-jazz-singer feel of Sad Girl
Lyrical content: different to stuff she's done before. her lyrics are usually pretty exceptional, but i'm getting tired of her singing the same stuff about the same guys that feature in 4 albums and the huge unreleased catalog. i want some cynical lyrics that feature in songs like FMWUTTT, BKBY, or a different perspective of America as seen in West Coast. if anything, the return of the folk-tale Lana, as seen in HDYKMSW, would be superb.
Artwork: something similar to the stripped, laid-back and "natural" feel of the ultraviolence cover. i still firmly believe that it's the best album artwork yet, alongside LDR.

LanaDReyOnline tweeted that Lana worked with the Beach Boys on their album "No Pier Pressure", but her track was ultimately left off. not sure if it's true or anything but regardless of that, it got me thinking about Honeymoon and how cool it would be if she had tracks that followed a similar summer vibe to that

can you all honestly chill the FUCK out please...you're embarrassing yourselves through these petty arguments and its literally so fucking dumb. this isn't the BTD discussion thread, this isn't the Mariah thread, this isn't the UV thread (although its certainly getting rather ultraviolent ). take those arguments elsewhere and quit clogging up the thread with stupidity. thank you.
-
I think that she likes UV and prefers the wider creative control she had over it that she didn't really have with BtD, but she hasn't /done/ anything with it because it is such a sad, melancholic album. It's full of dark stuff and I think she wants to move on from it & be happy.

Before it leaked, were there rumours that this was the type of song we should expect, or was everyone as stunned as I was?
I think we were all pretty stunned - I, for one, thought it would be a song like AFFA, not a laptop demo.

SOY lyrics (so far):
Like I wanna fall into love
But roses still bloom
Since you left me blue
You've got to stand
Tryna mess around with my heart
It's true, I'm through
Flying with you
I'm so over you
Tell me baby are you over me?
I'm so over you
Tell me baby will you ever regret me?
I'm so over you
Tell me baby are you over me?
I'm so over you
Promise me that you'll never forget me
Trying to fly away, trying to spread my wings
Soaring like a golden bird
Blockin' out the things I heard
Nine or seven girls on your cameraphone [honestly why is she calling it a cameraphone dont all phones have a camera now lol]
Secrets kinda suck to burn
Wish I coulda heard it from you first
My tears, they cry
Like I wanna fall into love
But roses still bloom
Since you left me blue
You've got to stand
Tryna mess around with my heart
It's true, I'm through
Flying with you
I'm so over you
Tell me baby are you over me?
I'm so over you
Tell me baby will you ever regret me?
I'm so over you
Tell me baby are you over me?

i believe it's ooh baby, not 100% sure though
iirc it was registered with different producers to Ooh Baby, but it could just be the same song with different production (like the 2 versions of Big Bad Wolf)

so in the spirit of all these recent leaks, i made a playlist/album called NEVADA. i tried to make it a sort of stripped/acoustic version of LDR. of course, we don't have acoustic versions of all the tracks, so i just improvised as best as i could. i also changed the song names.
1. Heavy Metal (Jimmy Gnecco)
2. Gas Station (QOTGS Acoustic Demo)
3. Night Time (Almost Ours) [OSCYS Demo] {i'm a bit unsure about the title}
4. Sloe Gin Fizzzz (Motel 6 Acoustic Demo) [dunno if it works here???]
5. Dance Man (Let My Hair Down Demo 2)
6. My Only God (Disco Demo 2)
7. Rehab (For K Part 2 Demo) [the more acoustic-y one that we got today]
8. Cigarettes & Robitussin (Get Drunk Demo 2)
9. Prison Door Blues (live version of PSB, the demo was too "sharp" imo)
10. Film Star (Brite Lites Demo)
11. Nevada (Yayo Demo) [not the acoustic one]
i'm a bit unsure about the flow & would appreciate help with tracklisting!

people on ATRL were posting that the album is sitting on some site
tbh i think they're making up a load of shit, i dont think the label would be stupid enough to allow it to be in full & HQ on some website somewhere

I think it really depends on what is being repeated in the songs. The repetition in LDR is usually packed with some sort of metaphor/symbolism of some sorts, or it adds to the overall meaning of the song- "Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me" "Who has a face like smarty does? Um" "Ray-ray-ray-raise me up". In Sad Girl, the repetition is just kinda boring and dull - "I'm a sad girl/I'm a bad girl". There's not much meaning or "oomph" to her words - the repetition is essentially just filler.
