  3. 1. How did you discover Lana? When and What Era? Heard about Lana with the release of Video Games and Born to Die (song). 2. First song(s)? I remember the first song was Video Games; I was watching the video with my mom, and she asked me to download the album for her. 3.What did you think? I thought she sounded different, but she looked quite pouty. My sister hated Lana, and I grew to hate Lana for a loooooooong time. 4. Your favourite song(s)? Oh my. There are far, far too many to count. 5. Least favourite song(s)? Hmm...I guess Elvis and 1949. 6. What song(s) "grew" on you? All of her songs, really! I loathed Born to Die and Video Games, but I've grown to like them. Similarly, I thought Sirens was so boring, but now it's become one of my favourite albums! I thought For K Part 2 was strange at first, but it quickly has become a favourite of mine. 7. Whats your favourite Lana era as of now? (May jailer, Lizzy Grant, Lana Del Rey) Aahh so hard! But I would have to say Lizzy Grant; I adore her surf noir sound. May Jailer is a close second, followed shortly by Lana. 8. Favourite Album(s)? AKA, then Paradise, then Sirens (including FTE & QN). 9. Least favourite(s) ? Born to Die. I don't hate it, I just prefer her other stuff. It is still a fantastic album, imo. 10. Favourite song preformed live? The live version of Hundred Dollar Bill is so heartbreaking! I also like West Coast, Boarding School and Trash. 11. First song/Album purchased/Downloaded? Born To Die - The Paradise Edition 12. Favourite song quote/lyric? I'll fill this question out later, I have so many favourite lyrics to choose!
  4. From what I understand, KOL and YCBTB are the only tracks we know were definitely meant for BtD. Other intended tracks are, I think, just speculative and open for debate.
  5. I don't know if we know the 'official' outtakes for Born To Die, but I know that Starry Eyed, Hollywood and JFK were intended for Paradise.

    Lily Allen

I haven't listened to a Lily Allen album before (only the singles), but I decided to give Sheezus a listen...and my oh my, I really like it! I like how critical she is of contemporary society and the media in this album. It sounds really ~fresh to my ears. Love it.

  8. the live version of this song is so heartbreakingly sad, it really puts a sombre perspective on it

  10. all I keep thinking about recently is the way she sings 'drinking pep poo pepsi' in the live version of boarding school and I just so adorable

  14. Heavy Hitter and CWYCM have grown on me
  15. "So tell us something about your past?" "Well, there isn't much to say about it really..." UM YOU COULD START WITH TELLING US WHO THE FUCK K IS
  16. I've been thinking a lot about Lana and Feminism recently...and I've come to the conclusion that imo, Lana is not anti-feminist. In songs like Video Games, I don't think she is saying 'you are a man and therefore I do everything for you'. I think it's more 'I am in love with you and I do everything for you'; if Lana was lesbian, for example, I believe she'd still be giving off the same message. I think it's less about gender in Lana's songs, and more about being in love. She doesn't say 'I am a woman, I must be submissive', it's more 'I'm in love with you therefore I am submissive'. As well as that, is feminism not about equality between men and women? Feminism isn't about being an emotionless robot that's equal. If Lana feels this way, then surely it's detrimental to the feminist cause for feminists to state that she's being anti-feminist?
  17. I know pretty much everyone hates Daddy Issues, but I adore the music of it. Lana's singing and the lyrics are utter shite in it, but the music itself is soooooo good. I would die for an instrumental.
  18. if she doesn't have a title track or at least say the phrase ultraviolence in a song, I'm gonna scream
  19. i usually just hit shuffle, so there isn't really a flow to this. these songs aren't necessarily related to summer, but they're songs that remind me of summer, usually because i first listened to them in july/august:
  20. I listen to the whole of AKA on a road trip, along with: -Hollywood -Angels Forever, Forever Angels -Ride -Chelsea Hotel No. 2 -Born to Die -Blue Jeans -Video Games (Demo) -Without You -Million Dollar Man -Lucky Ones -Body Electric -Cola -Gods & Monsters -Burning Desire -Driving In Cars With Boys (Demo 1) -Butterflies (Part 1) -I Don't Wanna Go -You & Me -Your Band Is All The Rage -Young and Beautiful (Dan Heath Orchestral Version)
  21. To me, I think it means they haven't left her as such, but as in they ignore or neglect her.
  22. He has some sort of secret that the girl (Lana?????) doesn't know about. She also has dark secrets (skeleton = skeletons in the closet = an idiom that just means you have dark secrets), but he knows that she will never tell those secrets to people who abandon her and leave her alone. So basically they both have secrets, but she is more choosy over who she'll tell.
  23. I like how defiant this song is compared to tracks from BtD. Whereas in songs like Without You, it was sort of pleae-don't-leave-me-i-will-die-without-you, this song is kind of you-love-me-but-i-don't-love-you-as-much
