Yes! To me, it’s perfect. It starts the album off on quite a simple but stark note with the line, “I guess you could call it text book....” - almost as if she’s prefacing everything she’ll discuss on this album, like this is my story that you’ve been skeptical of over the years, here’s what it really is and why it’s been polarizing - it’s a classic text book case but maybe that very fact is what you need to realize to understand me. Plus, sonically, I think it probably foreshadows the sound of this album (a perfect blend between something bluesy and something more piano-ballad-driven).

She couldn’t have picked better unreleased tracks for this record. They are all her best and the sequencing of Nectar of the Gods —> Living Legend —> Cherry Blossom is gorgeous. Preemptively, I can see why she chose those songs and how they fit into her story, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album of course! October 22 cannot come soon enough.

I respectfully disagree! I don’t think anyone, truthfully, is responsible for Lana’s choice to venture into a genre - she is quite clear about how she does things on her own whim and we’ve known that for years. I think she just likes to make music that she feels like making and that is facilitated by the people around her. But I understand that not everyone likes that sound and that’s okay!!! Just my two cents!

Poor Nikki Lane - you guys leverage her existence against each other constantly the poor woman released one song with her friend Lana Del Rey and you guys act like that was the harbinger of future “ruined” albums ? I do not tolerate Nikki Lane slander

We went from knowing nothing to knowing everything in a span of 72 hours.

I imagine that tracks 12-14 would have to be remastered in some way and I’m sure they are the master files from the studio sessions in 2013 — I doubt she would source those songs from where they leaked (as the quality usually isn’t the same as released songs). Cherry Blossom and Nectar of the Gods (if they are fundamentally the same as the leaked versions) definitely would have had to be remastered with the album’s newer songs. And I think it was confirmed that Living Legend was different in some ways (it wasn’t specified how, but I’m guessing it’s a different vocal take or treatment, slightly different production, and perhaps some lyrical adjustments).

I just can’t believe we have these 4 gorgeous album covers! Every one is breathtaking and regal and she looks stunning. Lana Del Rey x Neil Krug is a recipe for visual bliss lol <3

Ugh, everything is just so perfect this release cycle! Not that anything before it was bad at all (I LOVE Chemtrails so much), but the visuals, the music, and the songwriting are all new heights for Lana. She truly shines when she digs the deepest within herself and I’m so glad we’re finally getting an album that sees her turn the most inward. It’s a treat to be able to listen to and I just feel so lucky that we’re all here together experiencing it! <3 what a time to be alive

As per her tweet (“last 16 months”) I guess it’s safe to say that — despite there being songs from 2013, 2014, and 2017 — she’s had this album in mind since May 2020 (so basically around QFTC). I can’t believe it’s been that long! Time has moved so quickly and we are so blessed and lucky to get this beautiful album from Lana. Every song is just mind blowing.

Her caption makes me feel like this is such an important album — a culmination point in her career. So many important people in her story are part of it. <3

The way Text Book, Blue Banisters, and Arcadia contain her best songwriting and vocal performances ever. And they are all sequenced to OPEN the album — wow. What a perfect start to what will likely be the deepest dive into her life yet.
