People are saying that Gaga has never dissed/criticized Lana. Well, maybe not publicly but Lana & Gaga have a lot of history together so maybe something was said behind the scenes. It's not like the internet is the only way celebrities communicate, after all. I definitely think it's Gaga and not Lorde. Lana obviously has a distaste for Gaga (see: So Legit & the "when will people be over her" FB post) so it actually wouldn't be too surprising to see even more shade being thrown. I'm excited to hear the song but on the other hand I do think Lana's being awfully petty... I mean, writing a song bashing another artist and officially releasing it on what's going to be one of the best-selling albums this year is a bit extreme, don't you think?

"Ultraviolence" to premier tomorrow on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe!
Trinity replied to TIARNZUS's topic in Latest News
Listened to it in the car for the first time today and I have to say, Lana was right when she said it was good driving music! -
This whole thing is just annoying because people take everything way out of context and make it seem like Lana just doesn't care about feminism at all. All she said was she doesn't care to talk about it all the time, which I totally agree with. For example, of course I want all races to be equal but I don't sit around and talk about racial equality and segregation all the time. Does that make me a racist? No. It doesn't.

"Ultraviolence" to premier tomorrow on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe!
Trinity replied to TIARNZUS's topic in Latest News
I think Ultraviolence is a pretty good song, obviously not her best, but I prefer it over Shades of Cool (West Coast is still my favorite so far). Unlike most people here, I really love the Deadly Nightshade/Poison Ivy references. She's comparing herself to plants that are dangerously beautiful -- very pretty to the eye but could kill you with one touch. I think it's sort of brilliant actually, it fits with the whole persona Lana's been building all of this time tying in danger, sex, glamour, etc. Lyrically, I think she could have done a little more with the song. I agree with @@Deadly Nightshade in the sense that she had the chance to create a really great story, but it seems the plot line is just a bit flat. I do appreciate the little dip into her past, though. As far as the production goes, I like it but it just seems like with this song, and all three songs so far, her voice sounds sort of muffled and quiet at times with all the live instrumentation. I know that's probably something Lana/Dan wanted when producing the album but I, personally, just don't like it. Lana's voice should be the focal point of the songs and the live music should enhance it, not drown it out. Overall, I'd probably give Ultraviolence 3/5 stars. I won't put it on repeat, but it won't go un-played in my library. -
WC, SOC, UV, BB - your favorite single? [updated]
Trinity replied to Sebastian's topic in Lana Thoughts
I am really, really drawn toward West Coast the most just because of the experience that went along with hearing it for the first time. It was like 4am and I was on the beach listening to it on BBCR1. I remember just feeling very ethereal and almost having an out of body experience hearing the intro and the waves crash in the pitch black of night. It was one of my favorite moments of my lifetime, I felt very alive and very Lana-esque. Something about that song makes me melt, I think maybe it's the tempo changes and the sound effect during the last chorus. -
Well fuck.

Lana Del Rey Cancels Performance on David Letterman Show
Trinity replied to kingadam's topic in Latest News
You people saying West Coast isn't good live... Have you heard it in person?! At my Lana shows WC was definitely one of my favorites. The guitars and the tempo changes were ethereal. I definitely think she should perform it on Letterman. UV is too controversial for national TV & she's never done SOC live so I doubt she'd do it for the first time with millions of people watching. It would be great to hear something extremely new, even to us, like Brooklyn Baby or another track but I think she's already been very generous by giving us three songs + the BB snippet pre-release! -
Okay so, what should I do? 1) Keep my boxset preoder from LDR.com (which I paid $117 for) 2) Order from LDR.au and pay $98 (shipping included) but risk getting the boxset weeks after the release 3) Screw the boxset and order the pretty vinyl from UO for $45 (shipping included) but risk the quality because UO vinyls are shit 4) Buy the vinyl later and get the JB Deluxe CD with the postcard set for $30 (shipping included) 5) Buy the vinyl later and get the Target Deluxe CD for $15 + shipping PS I already preordered on iTunes so that handles the iTunes exclusive bonus track.

Physical Exclusive Bonus Track Revealed: "Flipside"
Trinity replied to Mind Melt's topic in New Releases
Okay, ~lil rant~ It's not that I'm complaining about getting another track, or even about having to illegally download one little song, I just think it's stupid that I spent $100 of my own personal money on the box set and all the tracks aren't going to be included. I feel like if I am paying that much money (plus the money I spent on the iTunes preorder) I should get all the tracks. I really don't understand the whole "regional marketing" thing, but whatever. One hundred dollars is a lot for a box set, so it just sucks that when it arrives in my mail, I won't have everything. Not that I really care to download Flipside for free, because I don't. At all. I just feel like the box set, being the most expensive preorder available, should be the most exclusive and have the most to offer. ~rant over~ -
Lana Performs at Kim Kardashian's Pre-Wedding Party
Trinity replied to HausOfMark's topic in Appearances
When this information was released so many people on Twitter were being hateful saying Lana's only doing it for the money. I really don't think she is. Kim and Kanye have said multiple times that Y&B is "their special song". They both appreciate her music so I so nothing wrong with her performing there. Plus, if someone was flying me out to Paris and paying me six figures I'd probably do it, too. It's not like it's that much trouble for Lana. She obviously wants to or she wouldn't have said yes. I really hope we get photos because I'm sure she'll be extra dolled-up and stunning. -
It poured towards the end of Sweetlife but luckily the pit was covered by the pavilion so I didn't get wet. The people in the lawn looked MISERABLE though. If you're going to be completely out in the open, I'd worry more about staying dry than looking cute. Obviously you can't have an umbrella up in the pit so I'd go with a hooded poncho or at least a hat and maybe a water-resistant jacket like a windbreaker or something. I know it sounds stupid, but I'd rather be somewhat dry and look tacky than dress up and be cold and soggy.

The only way I'll drop $100 on this boxset is if those picture discs aren't available on their own. They are so beautiful and I waaaaant them. Also those photos look so vintage and pretty. Pretty sure they were originally shot on Polaroid.

I'm wearing a black body suit, acid wash overalls, a flower headband (not crown), some black jellies, a couple midi rings, and a pair of half frame round sunglasses. I think I'm going to bring a white, flowy cardigan just in case I get chilly.

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Trinity replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
I kind of thought of it like he was "swinging" (punching, etc) and then his hands were up in a sort of guilty way (like when a policeman says "put your hands up!") But really, who knows, she could just mean swinging in the same way she does in Video Games. -
You're welcome!

Does anyone know if the interviewer was Jody? I know Lana's friends with her and she went to Coachella.

I feel like West Coast is really good mixture of all the Lana-esque music styles we're used to but presented in a new (and exciting) way. It's a mixture of a lot of songs: Trash (Miss America), Burning Desire, Velvet Crowbar... It's extremely impressive how she managed to blend all these music styles that you wouldn't originally put together. The most I listen to it, the more I can hear the little things that make it genius.

I think I have my outfit figured out.. I'm going to wear acid wash overall shorts with a black bodysuit underneath and black jellie sandals and maybe a floral *headband* (that is nowhere near a crown). If it's cold I might bring a cardigan or something because who even knows what the temperature is going to be over here on the east coast anymore

I was thinking the exact same thing!

Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
Trinity replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
So will West Coast be sent to radio with that edit? I like it a lot! It's much clearer. Everyone that I've showed WC to said they liked the vibe they just thought she was hard to understand. Sad the "mic check one two, get it girl" isn't in that version though :-( -
Maybe it's because West Coast is so new and fresh and exciting for me, but I picked it over BTD. I'd like to do this again in a few months and see what I pick!

Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
Trinity replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Now that I think about it, June 2nd is actually a great release date. It's only three days after Maleficent comes out in theaters so hype will definitely be building due to Once Upon a Dream. I think that's a smart move. I, personally, won't mind the wait as long as we get something along the way (West Coast video, promotional photos, tracklist, cover art, etc) -
I was thinking about wearing a flower headband, not exactly a flower crown. It's two-dimensional and really, really cute. I don't want to seem tacky though.
