    Honestly I don't understand why the idea that Lana uses personas is so objectionable. If anything, it errs on the side of giving her more credit for knowing what she's doing.

     

    I also don't get the controversy over Lana's claim that no, she is sincere in the moment. If anything, it's an admission that she doesn't have it all together, never did, never will.

     

    The reviewer did seem more interested in name-dropping other musicians for the sake of comparison, than in actually exploring Lana's music. Still, it's okay to be a casual fan. Push-back on misinterpretation, or shallow interpretation, seems entirely warranted (if not exactly necessary). But I wish Lana could have come up with something more to the point than "don't call yourself a fan." Barring that, I wish she could have just blown it off.

     

    Isn't life more interesting when we disagree, AND are able to find constructive ways to talk about it? But neither the monologue of music criticism, nor the serial monologue of the Twitterverse, seem capable of providing a healthy space for actual dialogue.

    Squirlfriends, I need help. I'm about to handpaint a Chorly t-shirt with new logo.

     

    Which color suits better?

     

    1. Light rosé (lilac towards pink)?

    2. Light purple (lilac towards blue)?

     

    I think n.1 goes more with the album cover but not really sure which to pick

    I like her new sound. (Well, new as of 2017 via Miami Garden Club.) 

     

    Standout tracks on Rose Gold for me are "Counting All the Starfish," "Mami," and "The Window" :)

    when i export from audacity the bitrate always increases for whatever reason, my apologies

    You can change the bitrate under options, which is in the window that pops up after you select export.

    You may have luck DMing BloodPop and asking if he still has the stems for it

     

    Hmm... all I could find is a site to pay (20 cents) for the "Grins / Move the Stars" EP by Blood Diamonds. Looks sketchy. But from the sample it sounds like "Grins" is simply the Grins instrumental from True Romance.

     

    So Blood Diamonds became Bloodpop and scrubbed all his old material?  :ohno:

    So its kinda weird because that is the true Grins instrumental. Grins was originally just a track Blood Diamonds released that Charli sung over and got permission to release. Those vocals you're hearing are the original vocals that were on the track from Louise Burns. I'm not sure if there's even a way to filter those out.

     

    Oh cool, thanks. I guess I'll try to track down the Blood Diamonds track.

    Is there any reason Charli hasn't collabed with Banoffee? They're together all the time and she's such a unique artist a collab would sound so good

     

    There's the Banoffee remix of "5 in the Morning."
