I hurts me to say but BTD is miles better than Honeymoon and lawd, I am always clocking those BTD stans online whereever I can, simply because UV is better. But Honeymoon is not better. She can't write hooks, the melodies are poor, the bridges are meh, the production is a boring hell. There are no changes in tempo. Only thing that is better on HM is her voice. Sales are not important to be a fan of somebody. The quality counts. Sometimes, unfortunately the lack of quality is visiable in the lack of success. Not everything that is successful needs to be super commercial or radio fodder. Look at Sia or Muse for instance. Or Florence. Well, I mean, it's okay to want something like Mary Jailer, but in that case, not only I won't be a fan, but like 98 % of this fanbase won't be either. It's great that she does what she loves. However, just because it is that way, it doesn't mean, it's actually great stuff.

No promo is not an excuse for everything. She isn't promoting BTD either. Honeymoon sucks. Let us move on and hope she delivers the quality of Madonna's natural successor Katy Perry on her next album.

Sold almost 1.4 million so far Ultraviolence 53 weeks sold 530k so far Honeymoon 16 weeks sold 210k so far It's official: Lana is the biggest fad of the 2010's.

It IS a commercial failure. When Halsey is outselling her, when Melanie Martinez will outsell her in the US very soon and Lorde releases y'all will see what I am talking about. Others are catching up while she falls back. She lost round 90% of her audience. That is the biggest drop of any female singer since she has debuted. If that is not alarming, then I don't know what else is. I mean, this is not just the sales climate. And nobody is expecting her to do BTD numbers, but with Honeymoon she hasn't even served the quality of UV. It is just a boring record that drags on forever with no focus or drive. With her next album she can compete with Marina and her numbers. It's a shame and a waste of her potential.

because it was adding songs to an already beloved album that had sold almost 3 million copies worldwide. The US was just late. If it was released on its own, it would have flopped. It simply had no song on it that screamed hit and these days, you simply need these songs plus an overall convincing album that hits a big demographic.

1,5 years is not a long break. She should have palatable material. With Honeymoon she didn't have it.

She should just move on honestly. Maybe a tour, but even if she doesn't go on tour, it doesn't matter. What she needs is a rest, living her life and get some new inspiration, pick up the pace and come back with a strong single that can be played on the radio. So 2017 seems more reasonable.

Miley is extremly talented. And in her new songs she actually shows skills of songwriting and story-telling unlike some other major popstars. She is great.
