  1. Judging from that post, I'd say he left the band. I mean, 'first show with the new lineup' & 'Barrie is making music in LA & we're making music here'? Even if he hasn't officially left them yet, he will soon imo. Band members not being 'available' to play live shows because they're living the life with their gf in another continent usually doesn't go down well with the other band members...

  2. Maybe she meant: The only artists I know personally. I dont know what was on her mind when she was saying this... I just have understanding for her because I know I would sound like a total confused mess in interviews too.  :creep:

It probably is what she meant, and imo it doesn't make it any better; she's in the industry and knows a shitload of artists now, so it's kind of a presumptuous thing to say.

But see, you're speculating again too - which is fine. We just have different opinions on why she talks / acts the way she does, which is also perfectly fine. However, it's just kind of dishonest to accuse people of over-analysing / judging / etc. as a means to end a discussion just because you disagree with what's being said. Just my final 2 cents on this.

  3. Yes, people do it. That doesnt mean its right and you should do it (where is your punkness ?). She is a singer, we should care about her music and dont judge her personality or contradictions because we dont know her actually. I dont even think Lana would like it.

Being 'punk rock' are her words, not mine. And look, you're doing the exact same thing - speculating about her personality.

  4. Im sorry, you know her only from medias. You dont really know her true personality and you cant judge her.  :smokes3:  :bye2:

Well, I definitely can if I want to - so many people all over the world do it every single day about pretty much everything without actually knowing what they're talking about - which, of course, doesn't mean I'd be right. Regardless, that's not what I'm trying to do here.

Who actually cares though really? all this "i don't trust her, who is she? ect ect"............is the product good, do you actually like the output? great, enjoy it and get over everything else. She's not here to be your true friend who you know, she's a singer, she opens her mouth, sounds come out we like, we buy the music, the end. x.

Quite a few people here, apparently. Hence Lanalysis & 'Lana thoughts', for instance. What I don't understand is why people who don't care about it care that we care.

The main purpose of a forum is 'discussion', obviously. If I wanted to just 'enjoy the output', I wouldn't even need to be here. Different people like to discuss different things, and fortunately for all of us there's so many different topics to choose from. What I don't get is the necessity to go 'but who even cares?!' whenever something doesn't interest you; I mean, I don't give a shit about many things in lots of topics but I don't go there periodically and ask 'who cares though?'.

  5. Its just her and her complicated persona. Of course she is not signed in Interscope just to make "art", but it doesnt mean she cant do great music, either. The word "legitimate artist" doesnt have meaning anymore for me.

Oh, absolutely. I just think it definitely does to her (or is, at least, part of the image she wants to transmit to others). Hence all the contradictions.

  6. Why would she want to be any kind of "punk" attitude artist ? I just commented that you can like your fame even though you are shy person in nature and it manifests sometimes ( stage fear, interviews etc.). I like the point of her career where she is at now. She is still not overexposed much but she has solid fanbase and great cd sales so she can afford her dreams come true (videos, helping other people etc.).

Because she idealizes it and seems to equate it with being more of a 'legitimate' artist. How many times has she mentioned in interviews that she's disappointed with the people she's met in the industry, that no one else seems to be 'in it' only for the music, etc.?

  7. She is naturally a shy person. I understand her. I dont like being in spotlight too but u still long for admiration of other people´s.

This makes some sense but I feel inclined to agree with @@lola and call it her 'Cobain act' tbh.

I think she loves and wants fame / recognition / adulation / etc. but at the same time feels she can't stay 'so legit' :usrs: if she gives in to all that & doesn't simply create art for art's sake. 'Cause, you know, admitting that you want to be popular & worry about what other people think of you is basically the most un-'punk rock' thing you can do. :smirk:

  8. @@Quentin Thank you for summoning me.

I love The Weeknd, I was completely blown away by House of Balloons when it came out! I loved all 3 mixtapes / Trilogy & my fave songs atm are High For This, House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls (especially the second part, like OMG!?), The Birds Part 1, XO / The Host & Kiss Land. The songs I like the least are those featuring Drake probably because I fucking hate Drake. :smirk:

I also agree with Quentin, a huge part of his music's appeal is all the detail it has and most of it is lost during live performances, so they're usually kinda boring & lackluster when compared to the albums...

  9. @ I agree it's a good video, though imo maybe not the best one there. What I meant is that everyone rides his dick like there's no tomorrow & he's the next Michael Jackson but, frankly, he's not that good. This whole media / music industry created 'legendary status' around him is annoying af (like, a 15 minute performance, really?). Same re: Beyoncé.
