horse: Too much on the nose
-
I hope there isn’t a fucking horse on the cover

Lana has always had those quirky / kitschy lyrics throughout her songs, like the iPad line in Hope, that only her can pull off. i hope the some of the lyrics will be like that and not fall into « parody of country ». Critics would drag her for that for sure and with country, it could be a line easily crossed (already, the title Lasso is kitschy and the giddy up line also…)

At least we’ll get guitars for sure With preorder in April ?
-
Im still not « over the moon » with this new project TBH, but at least she posted Henry, Come On before announcing it was a country LP coming next. I really like what we heard so far, so I’m not « scared » . Plus it sure was coming at some point, so it’s not really a surprise

Confession: I don’t know what happened in the last week, but Breaking Up Slowly has finally clicked with me The melody, the lyrics, the production: it reminds me of how a big storm feels like, before it breaks… and yet it never does… (Please, mods, don’t ban me!!!)

Country is one of the biggest genres in the US and Canada… She really could be adding lots of new fans if they feel the album is « authentic »
-
Anyone else worried about the September date? I mean, she needs to submit the album five to six months before release and we’re in February… She’d have a month, month and half left to go…

Grammy Awards 2024 - Lana Del Rey Nominated for 5 Awards
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in Awards & Nominations
I haven’t commented yesterday on that anonymous voter’s comment about Lana because not only was it unfair to Lana, but it frustrated me too much. This is misogyny at its best: we still hold against a woman a misstep made 12 years ago, that wasn’t even a big deal in the grand scheme of things, she redeemed herself so many times over and meanwhile, men get to be « forgiven » or have the most ridiculous sentences for being sex predators… I know it’s not the same, but a man could fuck up on SNL and nobody would bat an eye for sure. -
I’m not a big fan of country either but I think Lasso will sound more Americana than « traditional country ». She already has songs that sound like this : Riverside with Barrie, the official version of SYTH, Breaking Up Slowly, Nectar of the Gods… I’m curious about the project since she’s been cooking it for four years (which translates to me that the songs will be strong) country sure is big in America and GP will eat it up.

So… lead single this spring? We need Hey Blue Baby!!!!
-
Really love the Florence cover. Blue Skies will surely have those traditional arrangements as well. for the record: Jack is a great producer IMO, he has this incredible musical culture, it’s just that he is working way too much and within the same pool of artists who all go in the same or similar direction, which inevitably leads to sounding repetitive.

True, vinyls take way longer now than they did 6 years ago. However, it seems that the delay for vinyls is now between 4 and 5 months. So, I’m expecting same rollout as OB: when the album is submitted, the lead and preorder could be happening two months later, making the pre-release around 3 or 4 months (which is tolerable). Many artists have similar rollouts

A couple of Blue Banisters tracks come to mind as well, sadly… It’s normal, not to connect with lyrics of some of her songs (Carmen, Art Deco don’t resonate with my personal history, but their production is so pristine that I either don’t skip them or I’ve come to love them because the arrangements are so incredible), but to get another « Chemtrails album » would certainly have that same « problem » with some tracks.
-
Im totally fine with an Americana album as long as she « lets loose » a bit on a couple of songs: faster tracks (Hey Blue Baby) or more experimental ones. Prettiest Girl in Country didn’t sound like « typical Lana » either. Henry, Come On sounds very beautiful… but anyone else thinks it’s a bit « Chemtrails track »? I do love most of the tracks on CoCC, don’t get me wrong, but the stripped-back production is a hit or a miss for me (if I don’t connect with the lyrics, then there’s very little to like with a stripped-back song TBH)

Rolling Stone wrote an article, a couple of years ago, that there is a sorta « tendency » for winners of the Album of the year Grammy: the album after that big win is often going in a completely different direction, exploring new musical directions. Those albums usually flop commercially as for Lana, I don’t know if a Grammy win could impact the sound of LDR10 since it’s already in production. But I hope she’ll do something new like she did on Venice Bitch and A&W

Lana to release new song "Henry, Come On" with Luke Laird - LEAD SINGLE
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Aren’t we passed this? RBFY was the only snippet she teased that she didn’t include on an album and we knew right from the start she wouldn’t. And that was seven years ago. im sure Henry Come On is coming this year. But it could be the new Candy Necklace or TJF -
BTD had this whole metaphor of the races in, well, Off to the Races; LDR10 could have a song about not being her first rodeo

Grammy Awards 2024 - Lana Del Rey Nominated for 5 Awards
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in Awards & Nominations
The only Grammy she needs to get at some point is the Lifetime achievement one or whatever it’s called seriously, if she doesn’t win this time around, the Grammy’s will have proven once again how useless and how flawed they are: Lana is one of the greatest singer-songwriters of this generation and she still has zero win. And OB is surely one of the most beautiful and complex albums she released to date. Her impact is already incredibly tremendous on the music industry. Hell, yesterday, she was still the second most streamed female artist on Spotify, beating Ariana who just released a new single… I mean come on, Grammy! -
Fine China would be a good choice for an Americana LP. The lyrics is very « stuff of country songs »

Lana to release new song "Henry, Come On" with Luke Laird - LEAD SINGLE
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
This song would be so fitting my mood right now: I’ve been revisiting a lot of her acoustic guitar tracks lately (Not All of Those Who Wonder Are Lost, Yosemite, TNBaR, Nectar of the Gods) and they feel like a hug or a fireplace in a cabin, on a cold winter night. I wish she’d release Henry, Come On now…
