give me a good reason as to why she deserves to be called a "greedy hag"

they don't have to explain why she's greedy... taylor's actions speak for themselves :brigitte:

Taylor wants it and Lana doesn’t.

this is Lanabaords and Lana is barely caring about her career, so everyone here is big mad.

to be fair, Lana did just rerelease the UV vinyl earlier this year idk why she didn’t do it again for the anniversary

she most certainly cares about her career lol, just not in the same way

especially since she doesn't really have to do anything anymore, she could just quietly drop albums if that's what she wanted to do and her fans will always be there

exactly, im not saying this isnt weird behavior, but im pretty sure everyone would do this if they had the fanbase… if she can keep the album charting, why not? the fans wont let anything happen to it.

taylor swift is literally the only artist who's going to this extent to keep her album at the #1 spot, and just because somebody can technically do something, doesn't mean they should, obviously :flop: there is just no justification for selling 50+ album variants which are hardly different from the original project, especially in order to prevent other artists from being at the top, her only motivation here is insecurity and greed, i'm sorry but i just find it insane how anybody's defending her on this... but we all know how taylor swift fans can be :brigitte:

  5. if it were ANY other artist releasing nearly FIFTY "variants" of their mid, bland album, especially in order to prevent other fellow artists from hitting #1 on the chart, something arguable meaningless anyway, they would be dragged to hell and back by the entire world :brigitte: it's beyond embarrassing for any artist to do that and it's also beyond embarrassing to see people defend her and act like it's no big deal, it's pathetic

(and that's not to say that charli or any other artist shouldn't want to be at #1 or shouldn't want to succeed, but it's just so silly and ridiculous to see how desperate taylor is to stay at #1 even though it really doesn't mean all that much, ESPECIALLY since it ISN'T organic, in the slightest, in that case, it's pretty much meaningless)

  6. sirens is my 2nd favorite lana del rey album honestly... <3 so many INCREDIBLE songs, and some of her greatest lyrics can be found on sirens, despite it being recorded so early on in her career it really reminds me of my hometown on cloudy days in late fall and early spring, when the grass has lost it's vibrant green and the trees are completely bare, genuinely an underrated folk gem that deserves more love and recognition

i have many favorites that i especially adore off of sirens, but peace is my #1, it just touches my soul so painfully and wonderfully <3

Rock and roll heavy metal baby
Like a broken record, it's all the same
    And sadly I'm mad
I want you to take me tonight
In blood diamond, blue velvet nights
    Jupiter rising, dawn past daylight

Crying in your arms when I'm hurt
    I have ten million questions
With no ease by your divine interventions
    I want to fly

    I want to understand
Is there peace on the other side
Is there peace on the other side

  8. i don't how to properly dedicate an entire, full-fledged post about my love for ultraviolence, despite how much i do love born to die and honeymoon, it really is my favorite lana del rey album besides sirens and AKA, the fact that it's just so hard to have one favorite tells you how strong and wonderful her discography and her artistry is :trisha: ultraviolence is a magnificent album with an incredible, irresistibly dark atmosphere... conjuring vivid, alluring images of late-summer storms, beaches, cigarettes, expensive cologne, cult leaders, dark eyeliner, and leather... songs like cruel world, west coast, and brooklyn baby will pull you in like waves of the ocean, not letting you escape, songs like pretty when you cry, fucked my way up to the top, and flipside crash down dry, hot, and hard like bright thunder against a black sky... and songs like old money, guns and roses, and is this happiness leave you in a smokey, intriguing haze of sorrow, fear, introspection, and nostalgia... the perfect album for sweltering, hot summers with stormy, gray skies :hair:  :crying3: :wubna:

I am so confused. The NME interview was very bizarre, and so was her "oh my god" reaction to that fan tonight, lol. Apparently, the project *exists* (Antonoff called it "brilliant"), but there's something about it that makes Lana hesitant and unsure. Has she changed her mind about the album's direction and sonic style, or is she unsure about the critical reception?

    - Last spring, Antonoff mentioned that he and Lana are delving into a creatively exciting and very strange place. It seemed that he was implying that they have been cooking something experimental.

    - In September, Lana said that the next album would be more "Americana" with structurally and lyrically simpler songs compared to the more chaotic and excessively wordy Ocean tracks.

    - The first time she mentioned that she's going "country" was during that show when she gave an award to Antonoff. She also implied that "Lasso" has been a passion project that she's been working for 4 years, and Antonoff even traveled around several places in the U.S. with her, in order to write and record new music.

    - Lana worked with Quavo right after the Grammy's.

    - During the NME interview, she mentioned that the new songs are "American songbook"-esque. But she also sounded quite unsure about the album, not necessarily in terms of its existence, but mostly in terms of what it might evolve into (artistically), or in terms of critical reception.

    My two cents:

When Lana (enthusiastically) mentioned that "Lasso" is a country album, she had her recent collaboration with Luke Laird in mind. She usually gets very excited whilst working on something very specific; remember her W Magazine interview that made us expect an album filled with "Fingertips"-esque tracks? - and it low-key colors her perspective, lol. So, while I do think that the "country" element will be there, I doubt that it's going to be *the* defining sound of the album, which might explain why she's gotten a bit hesitant when attempting to describe the album. "Americana" and "American songbooks" are different terms, that imply a much broader soundscape. Not to mention the Quavo collaboration and the "strange" stuff she's been working on with Antonoff (and who knows what else at this point), assuming all this stuff has been put together in one album.

Another explanation would be that she has changed the soundscape of the album dramatically. In fact, there might not be strong "country" elements at all. Her reaction to how "quiet" the room went when she announced the album is quite telling. Did she get cold feet? Does she feel that she might be misinterpreted as someone who's simply following the trend? Who knows. The fact that she mentioned that the songs are more "American songbook"-esque means that she probably hasn't cancelled the album yet, though.

Which leads me to a different interpretation of what she's been implying so far: what if the album is not a "typical" country/Americana album, and it's a little bit bolder/experimental or simply not easily categorized and defined in terms of its sound and style? Perhaps Lana is scared of the reception; critics and fans might be expecting something more "classic" or specific in general, but we are not getting that at all.

I don't know what to expect at this point, lol. I think that the album exists, but she's probably changed her mind about its direction and style. The latest IG post feels like a prelude to what's about to come in terms of the new era's aesthetics. It feels intensely contemporary and urban (the street/car photos), but also alluringly gothic, nostalgic and quite unsettling (the swamps, the trees etc.). This is a far cry from the generic "yeehaw" aesthetics, so maybe she's simply unsure about the overall reception to this potentially singular take on country/American songbooks/whatever's been on her mind lately? The "Lust for Life" comparison might be apt: this could be a mixture of trap, experimental alternative, hip hop, country, and throwback Americana ballads. Or...maybe not! She's indeed so random...

perhaps lasso will feature some minor, subtle elements of country music, like the dark, warm guitars featured on born to die, on tracks such as blue jeans and summertime sadness, or perhaps the general sound and cadence of the songs will be reminiscent of country music, sort of like how she described video games and ride as country songs, or, it may be more experimental, taking influence from a variety of different sources, almost like AKA, which undoubtedly features a country, folk, vintage americana sound, in songs queen of the gas station, oh say can you see, raise me up (mississippi south), and pawn shop blues, but even the songs that do not sound country or anything under that umbrella have that sort of feel, somehow, mermaid motel sounds way more reminiscent of the sea, or flashing, neon lights at an amusement park, but it fits in perfectly with the flirty americana of queen of the gas station, or the agricultural vulnerability of pawn shop blues, although she did sneak in a southern accent in the second verse of that one, i think it would be really cool and interesting if lasso felt reminiscent of AKA's wide scope of sounds and influences, vast, yet cohesive

  10. omg this is so amazing! :trisha: i would be SO incredibly nervous if i had this opportunity, one-on-one lunch with THE lana del rey? i couldn't eat, i could hardly speak... i would just be so nervous and stunned and starstruck... hopefully you manage to keep your cool lol! :wubna:

We aren’t safe in our thread either😭 Some of you guys (specifically you and a few others) are insanely obsessed with her in a  weird hater way that I will never understand. I hate the pull out the misogynistic card but the way you guys act about Taylor specifically is very weird. And the fact you guys think Lana is constantly showing shade at Taylor is weird. Lana just talks like that. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting it.

nobody here HAS to like her, and we should be able to express our opinions, especially when they're clearly warranted, this is lanaboards, not taylorboards or anotherotherartistboards so we honestly should have the right and the ability to express our thoughts freely on other artists, however we see fit, as we aren't on a platform dedicated to them

i can agree that for the most part that just simply going into a random artist's thread and talking shit about them for no reason isn't really good form, but the last time we did that was when she was releasing 390294092 versions of her album just simply because she couldn't fathom another artist (another female artist at that) being at the top for ONCE

she's very clearly money-hungry, greedy, and selfish, and it's especially egregious considering the state of the world right now, i'm not saying she's the worst of the worst, and i can't act like every artist i listen to are magnificent people, i mean, nobody is anyway, but we have every right not to like her and we have every right to call her out on it, especially so since so many people practically worship her

  12. not necessarily when i feel tired or want to sleep, but whenever i don't feel my best (physically), my head hurts, or when i want to listen to music but don't want to hear anything too loud or energetic, i often listen to songs from lana's may jailer era (2005/2006) her acoustic and laptop demos, and old, acoustic folk songs, like from nick drake and such

i was actually planning on making a playlist for songs like that, i'll have to do that today
