So yesterday I received my order from the first drop, but today I also received the LDR Village PR Box that they had sent me! (For those unaware, the director of LDR Village reached out to me awhile ago to do some promotion for LDR Village, and LanaBoards was the sole announcer of the LDR Village pop-up event a Melrose Trading Post) As a thank you, they sent me their PR Box with some goodies inside! I thought I'd attach some pictures of the box, as it's super cute. I've very grateful that they sent me this! x

Just to further debunk this, here's the original photo of Lana taken backstage during her Chula Vista, CA date of her Endless Summer Tour on May 16, 2015 -

I just finished listening to the podcast! It was very interesting and insightful, especially for someone like me who has always been interested in fan culture particularly when it comes to music. (I mean hell - with owning an entire fan forum with 15,000+ members from all across the world that visit here for a variety of music artists - I sort of have to be, right?) I also think that Marina was the perfect artist to do this with, not only because she's interested in psychology and has taken courses in the past, but because the themes of what a lot of fan culture breaks down to are what she sings about in her music. For example, identity, a sense of belonging, humanity, fulfillment - these are all themes that were talked about in the podcast as reasonings for fan culture, and these are large themes that have been regularly seen in Marina's work. I also loved their little bit talking about live music and how that can be especially important to both the fans and the artist. I'm a concert junkie, and I see multiple shows from all of my favourite artists. It's not only that euphoric sense of being in the presence of live music solely because of the artist, but it's the community as well. Especially for someone like me who likes to queue for hours in line for a show, I've met so many incredible people from all different fandoms who I still keep in touch with. If anything, this podcast just made me crave live music again even more than I have been over the past year and being back in my little sanctuary - a concert venue. Anyway, incredible podcast. Definitely give it a listen if you're a fan of Marina, or a fan of anyone really. x

Here's a transcription I did of the Lana bit from the interview, as I haven't seen anyone else try to type it out yet: Mike: Lana Del Rey, we’re working on her stuff. Fantano: Yeah, how’s – I’ve gotten a lot of questions about that specifically. Would you be able to give an idea as to how some of that is turning out? Mike: It was just cool. I can’t give any details because it’s not done yet. We don’t know what it’s, you know, I don’t want to jinx it talking about it too much. Fantano: I know she has that next record that’s dropping very soon this year. The work that you’re doing with her, is it specifically for that record or is it for an even further down the road project? Mike: It’s for that record. Fantano: Okay. Mike: We’re pulling stuff for future projects. I’m planning on working with her a lot. Fantano: How exactly did that connection happen, and when it did, how familiar were you with Lana’s back catalogue? Mike: Oh, very. A lot of my friends produce a lot of her stuff. Emile Haynie, Jeff Bhasker, and you know, all those guys. Fantano: I guess when approaching it, I mean not to spoil too much I guess, when approaching a project like hers is it sort of your goal to continue to deliver those aesthetics that fans are sort of familiar with whether it be the piano, the strings, sort of like that almost like orchestral elegance, or are you bringing like synths to the table and everything and kind of changing it up a little bit instrumentally? Mike: I would mesh them both I think. You got to stay true to the original, but you can definitely do your twist on it, you know?

The Washington Post did a story on Joan Baez, and here's some quotes from Lana about Joan, the inspiration that sparked 'Dance Till We Die' - Lana Del Rey, another high soprano and a recent friend, says, “Joan’s so inherently herself, and always has been. She just had all the freedom to have all the opinions. She’s definitely not conforming to society’s how do you do’s. She’s just incredibly strong and a dominant presence in the best possible way.” Two years ago, Del Rey coaxed Baez to perform “Diamonds and Rust” with her at a concert in Berkeley, Calif. Afterward, they went dancing at a San Francisco Mission Senegalese dance club, Bissap Baobab. Baez kept the joint open until 4 a.m., dancing long after Del Rey had given up. “The spirit is inside her. Joan is going to die in those boots,” Del Rey recalls. Which inspired Del Rey to write “Dance Till We Die,” included on her last album. “Joan is my favorite female singer,” says Del Rey, who revels in that vibrato and what it asks of listeners. “It reaches way above yourself. It’s quite ethereal and heavenly. The vibrato and trills come from the freedom of speech, from this deep-seated honesty. . . . It’s like she’s saying, ‘Hey I have a lot to say here. I’m going to hang on this note and hang on here with me.’ ”

Literally every single one of my twitter accounts were suspended, even my personal one, and I have not the slightest clue as to why. I rarely even tweet from any of my accounts. I've sent an appeal to twitter, but have yet to hear back. I suppose I'll make a new LanaBoards twitter in the meantime and I'll let you guys know of it once I do, but I'm really hoping they'll just lift the suspensions on my accounts - I have no idea what they even think I did, considering I'm raaaarely on Twitter at all x

Here's what I was able to transcribe. The very last line he said wasn't super clear, but it sounded like he said "at least one new album" At least one? Could that mean.. more than one?

Clip from the livestream where Mike Dean mentions working with Lana - Host: Are you working with Lana Del Rey? Mike: I'm working on a little something with her, yeah. Host: Yeah? So anything like that you want to talk about with that or new music before we get into art? Mike: I mean Lana I can't really talk about yet, you know I don't really talk about things before they happen. Host: Respect. Mike: We're working on something you know but we haven't finished anything. Host: Respect. Mike: You all have at least one new album.

I'm don't know too much about the workings of last.fm, but I took a look at his LDR scrobbles and saw that he also scrobbled a track titled 'French Restaurant' about a month ago. I'm not sure if this is just another unreleased song or perhaps something new, but we've never heard that title before to my recollection. He shared the following lyrics in the Shoutbox: I actually know of this French restaurant in NYC that she used to frequent, and I went there a few times too when I lived in Brooklyn. It's called Marseille, if there's any New Yorkers on the boards who need some good restaurant recs lol x
