I believe this is referencing Chase Stogel, who she was dating on & off between 2017-2019. They were pictured together a few times over the years, but their relationship was never publicly declared and was largely secretive. I would assume much of NFR was inspired by him, especially the title track, FIILY, Cinnamon Girl, Bartender, & Happiness is a Butterfly x

I love interviews like this where when you’re reading it, it seems like you’re a fly on the wall listening in on a conversation between two friends - or maybe even joining them in a third chair placed around in a triangle. Amazing read - great questions asked by Hannah, and insightful responses given by Lana. I always love learning more about her personally with what she shares with us through lyrics, poetry, and interviews - even 11 years later, I’m still as interested as I was the very first day. She’s both enigmatic and pellucid at the same time. Love her x
